How rare is Far and Away?

So, I was browsing the soundtrack section in an Amsterdam record store today, and came across a copy of Williams' wonderful Far and Away.

However, I already have mp3s of this (I know, I'm evil, yada yada yada). Instead I picked up Edward Scissorhands and An American Tail.

Was that stupid?

- Marc, wondering how the songs on An American Tail are...

It's still available here in Mexico, which makes me believe not only it's not rare but probably easy to find anywhere.

I though far & away was out of print.

I have seen it here once, and as an import... I bought it :P

You can make a complete score with the OST and Volumen 2, its only misssing 'Oklahoma territory' film version.

Like most stuff these days, there's almost always a copy at ebay. I got mine from there for $5. Mr Cheapo strikes again.

I'd go back and get Far and Away. Edward Scissorhands is worth it, not too sure about An American Tail though. Other than the one song nothing really stood out to me.

Enjoy Edward Scissorhands, it's a classic! And I can forgive you for buying An American Tail over Far and Away, but only because you already had the mp3's. Seems like a pretty good Horner score. Anyway, F&A is kinda rare, yeah. I've only seen it a few times throughout the years.

If demand is what you're looking for, I wouldn't say no to one of those. :)

This would have been a good opportunity for a poll (who owns it, who passed it by in shop, or on ebay, who wants it but cant find it)

Edward Scissorhands has already spent a lot of time being played here. I was a bit disappointed with An American Tail, because I had forgotten there were a lot of songs in the movie, and the back cover of the album doesn't indicate which tracks are songs and which are score. So I was surprised to find a lot of songs, while I was expecting an album filled with Horner score.

The score itself is very good, though. Like I said, I had to check I was really listening to Horner. Whatever happened to this guy? :|

I bought it from the Fame music store in Amsterdam about a year ago or so. The next time I got there, they had another one again. They also have it at the library here. It doesn't seem overly rare to me, but it might be a bit rare. I'm pretty happy to have that CD. :)

Yeah, but they've been downsizing the soundtrack selection for years. When I walked in Thursday they had moved it again and to a smaller section.

Nevertheless, it still beats the shit out of every Free Record Shop in the country.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Baby look at me

And tell me what you see

You ain't seen the best of me yet

Give me time I'll make you forget the rest

I got more in me

And you can set it free

I can catch the moon in my hands

Don't you know who I am

Remember my name

Fame

I'm gonna live forever

I'm gonna learn how to fly

High

I feel it coming together

People will see me and cry

Fame

I'm gonna make it to heaven

Light up the sky like a flame

Fame

I'm gonna live forever

Baby remember my name

Happens everywhere eh?

Btw is F&A still in print? If it is, why is it seemingly relatively hard to find? If its not, why did I pick mine up just a few months ago at my local store?

You should have gotten all three scores, can't go wrong with any of them. American Tail is one of my fav Horner scores, by all means get its sequel too :)

I made a complete Far and Away once based on mp3s of the second album, but I should redo it with my 2nd volume copy which I acquired in the meantime. It's worth it though I'd say.

Vol.2 just doesn't cut it for me, but I do like the "ultimate" land race.

That would be fun to have a CD filled with "Ultimate" versions.. Ultimate War from Hook, Ultimate Episode 1 end battle, Ultimate AOTC Arena battle, Ultimate F&A Land Race :-D

Ultimate War from Hook

Yes, but it would have to be the complete Ultimate War, all 20 minutes of it.

And you call yourself a Williams fan!

For punishment you must now buy The Rock and listen to it 5 times!

I wouldn't wish that upon my worst enemy.

Marc, get Far and Away if for no reason but to hear Enya sing the song in English.

I really really like Far and Away.

I was back at that store again today. They still had Far and Away, but again, I left it on the shelve. Because this time, they had what I was actually looking for last time:

And I also picked up this:

Jane Eyre is lovely, one of my favorites...good find. I've never really been able to appreciate Empire of the Sun in its entirety, but the it has numerous highlights which are great, like "Jim's New Life," "Cadillac of the Skies" (the concert version from Greatest Hits is the best rendition), and "Exultate Justi."

The rarest Williams CD's I've ever found in stores are Empire of the Sun and Last Crusade. Both were 10.99 - I had 12 dollars. Now they don't have EotS anymore.

I used to come across Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom a few times.

I already had it. I have a history of not coming across the CDs I need at the moment.

Fun coincidence, I bought EOTS, Jane eyre and Far and away at the same store. So buy F&A...

When it is sold you will regret it for ever, i know, i have lost many CDs that way...

And yes im noticing here that soundtrack selves in stores are being reduced too :music:
