I just managed to get this album and the recording of it is pretty good i reckon except for the Star Wars Main title which they have a slower tempo when I first listened to it.

The rest seems to pretty good to worth hearing but the Jaws one was kinda weird one. Does anyone have this? If so what do you think?

The Los Angeles Symphonic Orchestra conducted by William Motzing.

It's actually the City Of Prague Philharmonic.

An identical release with the correct orchestra was released on Silva Screen as Jurassic Park: Classic JW, also at David's site i believe.

What planet are you on?

This was released on an obscure German label, that credited a fictional orchestra.

Only for their later recordings, alas. Part of the Williams-Sampler

(credited to the "L.A. Symphonic Orchestra", oh well - in my review I

then wrote "on their recent Prague tour") and the Best of Fantasy

sampler (except the Budapest cues of course) were recorded at the

Rudolfinum. Whole other sound world there. The Smecky studios are so

dingy, you can hear anything clearly - i.e. except the music.

The black Sunday suite in Giants of Cinema is pretty good. You can recognise his style in it.

What in the world is a fictional orchestra?

Sounds like you trying to tell that this is some sample library or a synthesized Orchestra or something.... :?

The Black Sunday suite in Giants of Cinema  is 4 minutes longer than the one in the Silva Close Encounters Set.

K.M.

Yes but it was full length on it's origiinal Silva release:

http://johnwilliams.jw-music.net/comp_col_...c/filmcd147.htm, released around the same time as Giants of Cinema I believe.

Besides, have you ever heard of the LA "Symphonic" Orchestra?

There is a Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra (Symphony Orchestra)....But what are they doing in Germany if it a Germany recording which they are considered to be from USA?

Somehow I listen to two version of it one from the Greatest Hits Album and from this Giant of Cinema one and I think the tempo is about the same but the version of the superman from Giant of Cinema is missing some cymbals clashes at the start of it.

certain bits are aobut the same, but some parts like the descending brass sections are horribly slowed down on GoC. oddly, the GoC seems to sound worse than the original album too though it might be a poor rip.
