Sandor 459
Lately, the board gives me a constant feeling of deja-vu. I've been really, really troubled by the fact that I just cannot think of a relevant topic to open. A few years ago, I was a "master" in presenting numerous topics a day (although headers like: "Would you like John Williams to score a porn movie?" or "Will John Williams ever score a zombie movie?" didn't really shake things up here...). And since John Williams seems to have taken a sabbatical, even the fun of speculating about the quality or impact of a new score is out of the question. I wonder; has it all been said? Are we merely recycling things that have been said a zillion times before? How long before the thread: "Post your Top 10 John Williams cues" pops up again?Even the discussion in the existing threads seems to be cursed by the same level of repetition. I mean; how many times does one need to say that Hans Zimmer sucks, E.T. is the greatest score of all time, etc.? Any opinions?
Miguel Andrade 964
People here will get all hyped up if there is a new score out, if possible one form a major blockbuster. In years like the rpesent one, I love to revisit older scores, and maybe listen more to other composers, and eventually discuss there work -- here or with flesh and bone friends. For xample I'm terrible excited since I belive that enxt year will be a great year of new cd releases, namelly some concert works recoridngs. Not that so far this year hasn't, as we get a new Williams related disc a month! And I'm always busy researching, instead of just concentrate on the idea that there isn't a new blockbuster score by Williams this year. Romão 1,931
Why don't we start discussing the little gem that is Ghost Train?
Sandor 459
Good suggestion Merkel. Perhaps this thread could serve an alternate motive as well: to ventilate ideas for possible, future topics.

Sandor 459
I really enjoyed the arrangments on the Ghost Train score a lot! And it's surpringly playful nature was, well, a joy!
Miguel Andrade 964
I was always sad that Varese only recorded The Mission. This is a sweet little score, and I've got used to watch the episode just to hear the music. The Ludlows arrangement
Romão 1,931
The thematic development is actually quite amazing for such a small score. You have of course the main theme (ther swirly one played on the flute), but there are other two instanly recongnizable themes (although of them may be considered the counterpoint to the main theme). I haven't watched this episode, so I really don't know what they represent. You have the motif that opens the 3rd track of the score and the absolutely gorgeous melody that opens the last track. There really is much to be apreciated in this little score.
Ollie 859
There will always be people discovering film music and message boards so it is to be expected that certains topics will constantly pop up. And as you get older you can count on current film music or the popular scores from past to dominate the board. If you think something is worthwhile post it. You never know, it may turn into an interesting thread.

Any opinions?I think you're right, Roald. We need more threads about Williams' health situation. Mirko - who didn't listened to Ghost Train yet, think that Zimmer sucks, doesn't think ESB is the greatest score of all time, likes Williams better than Goldsmith, think Williams' health is OK but as any every 70+ person could die in any second , think the last post s replying by Steef and Ted was funny, and think that every Roald thread is interesting or at least bizarre/weird/like nothing else!
