I have a large collection of LPs (including rare titles like the original soundtrack to "The Thief of Bagdad" (sic) and the spoken word LPs of Star Wars and Empire SB) and a very large collection of classical and OST recordings. I have stuff by Williams, Goldsmith, Rosza, Stevens, Bernstein, Herrmann etc...etc...

More JW CDs. I have some soundtracks by other filmcomposers but almost never listen to them.

That's why I stopped to by those.

Quite many classical albums by major composers, don't listen classical anymore(still like it ,though)

Far more by other composers, with Goldsmith being the second in line (about 25 albums behind Williams, but far, far, ahead of Horner, the third place, who is in the same area as Zimmer and Elfman, who are followed by JNH, Doyle, Shore ( Barry and Arnold)

I have 110+ Goldsmith CDs although Williams isn't too far behind.

After that it's probably Akira Ifukube with 50+ and then Herrmann and then in no particular order Rozsa, Silvestri, North, Newman, Broughton, Horner, Delerue, Bernstein, Barry, Young (Victor and Chris), Waxman, Rosenthal, Rosenman, Poledouris, Giacchino, Elfman, Sato, Oshima, Goodwin, Kaper, Steiner, Mancini, Arnold, and Kamen to name a few.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.

No I wouldn't waste my money just to have different covers.

If an expanded version comes out I get rid of the original unless the score was recorded for an album release like E.T. and Jaws where there is a difference in cues.

I have more by other composers as well.

Do you have any Bernard Herrmann in your collection?

2020!!!  Crikey!  You must have  A LOT of disposable income...sheesh.  My collection numbers around 150 Cds and about 110 LPs...and that's after 35 years of collecting.

I keep forgetting you got lost in space with the Swiss Family Robinsons. :P

Haven't counted exactly, but I know Williams is the top artist in my collection. But overall, I have more from other composers. Goldsmith is second. John Barry is third, but tied with Horner if I don't count the two different releases I have of Dances with Wolves seperately.

But I'm interested into why you're picky about him?

Personally, I only have one Herrmann score, that for some reason I really haven't gotten around to listening to yet. Probably because I haven't seen the film (which probably won't help either, since it's the rejected score to Torn Curtain). Herrmann is one of those unexplored composers to me, but I know he's done some wonderful work. The love theme from Taxi Driver is gorgeous.

- Marc, who'll pick up North by Northwest next time he's in Amsterdam.

I'm not picky about Herrmann in general, I said I'm picky when it comes to film scores.

If there's a movie to a score that I haven't watched 99% of the time I will not listen to it. I know it sounds crazy but it's true. I will only get scores if I like hearing them during the movie. A lot of the old time movies though I will most likely end up not seeing.

But why do you end up not seeing old movies?

because he'd rather watch crappy new movies than good old movies.

Joe, giving in to Mark's urges.

I have more John Williams than all other combined on CD, but on record album, I have about 50/50.

But why do you end up not seeing old movies?

Because I don't want to....geez...

So you'd rather watch crap lightsabers dualling in TPM (1999) as opposed to the excellent swordsmanship sans CGI 60 years earlier in THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD (1939)?? That and an Oscar winning score by Erich W. Korngold to boot.

I'll email you a list of classic "Black and White" and "Color" movies that you should watch before submitting silly comments like "Why do you end up not seeing old movies?" Where the hell do you think George Lucas came up with idea of Star Wars came from?

Yes I would rather watch lightsaber duels from TPM. To ME they're not crappy. Besides Star Wars, The Original Series for Star Trek (even though it's a TV show) and Star Trek: The Motion Picture anything before the 80's as far as movies go I have no real intrest in. It's my choice and I don't give a shit wether you (and Joe) like it or not. Everyone has their own prefrences in what films they want to watch and this is mine. It is my choice to choose what I want to watch or what I don't want to watch I could give a shit less what anyone else thinks.

I also don't have to explain myself to you or anyone else for that matter of what I like and what I don't like.

Yes I'm well aware of where Lucas came up with the idea for Star Wars, you don't need to point that out to me. I'm done with this thread.
