And I want to go on record saying DoS will end with Smaug's death and the news of the approaching Mirkwood army. You know, for posterity and shit!

Maybe the track list will reveal everything, like with a "Smaug's Noble End" or something.

Smaug's death would be a logical choice to end the second film but him flying to attack Lake-town would work equally well from the perspective of having a dramatic cliff hanger for the next film. But on the other hand the major villain dying at the onset of the 3rd film would seem almost anticlimactic, much as it did with Saruman in RotK and thus it was excised from the TE.

Well, I don't think excising Smaug's death from the theatrical films altogether would be a wise move ;)

Har-di-har-har Georg. You know what I meant!

I would prefer something poetic for the last track like "The Old Fire Breath Smokes No More" or "Smaug's Fire Goes Out" or "Like a Candle in the Wind" something like that.

CD 2:

14. Dragon Fire In Laketown

15. Bard's Golden Shot

16. Smaug's Noble End

17. The Battle Of Five Armies Begins

Except that the Smaug's Noble End contains music from a completely different scene from the opening half of the film. ;)

Bard's Golden Shot sounds like some kind of porn film.

We need something to do for Tauriel.

Tauriel Does Lake-Town?

Innuendo!

:znaika:

That was not innuendo. I was pretty much saying it clearly without any hinting. It's not like your baton/stick innuendo. ;)

Naughty wizard.

A wizard, Georg, is naughty precisely when he means to!

Nope, what would that leave for a climax in DoS?

Climax AUJ: Eagle rescue.

Climax DoS: Smaug's death.

Climax TABA: Battle of five armies.

At the end of DoS, you will think all is well when Smaug is killed, and then you see the elven army coming. Boom, cliffhanger. Sounds fine to me.

The climax of DOS is the invented attack on Lake-town by Bolg's orcs, of course, plus the invented Smaug vs Thorin's Company sequence inside Erebor (both of these can be glimpsed in the trailer). I assume Film 2 includes the threat of Smaug leaving to attack Lake-town as well, but maybe that will be built up at the start of Film 3, as they are recovering from the orc attack.

Smaug's death would be the logical cliffhanger moment and a situation which would demand resolution in the next film.

Oh swell what next? Another dragon and Sauron's armies appearing to assault Lake-Town and Erebor after Bolg has been driven off?

Plus the Smaug Vs Thorin's Company action sequence.

The dwarves are actually stupid enough to go and assault Smaug then? That shouldn't even be in the film but judging by the trailers they inserted that bit of useless action (with Hollywoodian epic leap from Thorin) into that part of the story.

Why else do you think Durin's folk demised?

That shot is just fucking hilarious.

Yeah that's too fucking much. I don't know what Jackson was thinking there.

Really hope that isn't in the actual movie.

He is going with his gut reaction here, gut which has grown ever larger as the shooting of the Hobbit films has progressed.

Wow they failed with Martin Freeman's poster. His face looks just too Photoshopped.

Well, Bilbo's and Thranduil's look really weird! Legolas still looks odd too, I just don't get what happened between LOTR and TH and why they ended up tweaking his eyes so much

Bard, Gandalf, and Thorin look good

Tauriel's is the best!

And all you'll be hearing is the Ringwraith chant, Rohan fanfare and Shelob's theme on an endless loop!
