I can't wait for the eventual Rarities disc where we get the teaser trailer music, it's damn good.

If the Hobbit CR releases follow the format of the LOTR ones, there won't be a place for it on the AUJ CR.

Is that shire statement in the film? At the start of the trailer. Bilbos theme in the trailer - AWESOME, there is hope for that theme.

??? This statement was in the teaser trailer for AUJ, and the theme didn't appear in the film in the end. Why does that mean there is hope for that theme?

I prefer that version of the Misty Mountain theme to the film and soundtrack one, the strings and gongs give me chills.

+1. There's something about that mix/orchestration that makes the theme sound so much more robust and satisfying than the version heard in Over Hill.

You mean the nudge towards RCP style? ;)

Seriously though, I think it has something to do with the orchestration, how in the trailer, more bass instruments are used in unison, while on the OST, it has a very deep bass pulse that swallows some of the clarity.

Plus, the drums are mixed differently, and also lower.

Well, there was that period of time when that music played automatically when you went to thehobbit.com. I downloaded it to mp3 at the time, I've put it up on google drive now https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7Hs5aDu_hTsTjlRSEN3N2lYXzQ/edit?usp=sharing'>here (you have to download it, or if you have the google drive music app maybe you can play it with that). It's not perfect quality and for some reason the volume goes down a lot during Thorin's theme towards the end, but at least it's isolated.

And I was saying that I bet that parts of it will be on the EE DVD in the Documentaries, DVD Menu's etc.

What with how popular the "BILBO'S ADVENTURE" portion is in virtually every documentary

Last year, we were a little frustrated because we had to revisit so many of the LotR themes - The Shire, Rivendell, Galadriel, Gollum, and the Ring - we did this because I'm wanting these 3 Hobbit movies to have great unity with the Rings films in design, wardrobe, story and music, so it meant "An Unexpected Journey" had to acknowledge what had gone before.

"See, Howard, we need to acknowledge what has come before in the Rings films, so could you take this and use some from Fellowship?"

"But Peter, look, it has the same instrumentation, the same feel, just the melody is slightly different because I also need to adress a new film!"

"Hmm, if you say so, Howard, fine, we will use it."

(thinks: "thank god Adams wrote a book for me to look up from which part of Rings I need to track music!")

"Ok, Peter, great!"

(thinks: "Jesus, I should have done an own Hobbit opera ...!")
