2pm London time tomorrow? Sweet!

I'll happily watch it online tomorrow and then again in IMAX on Friday morning.

Yea Faleel edited his post and now the picture looks stretched, it's not in its original aspect ratio. My link to the large image is clean.

Let's see what kind of full guerilla warfare battle the dwarves are going to have with the Mirkwood spiders. Although it might be that Legolas "Killstealer" Greenleaf comes surfing on a shield from the woods and ends the fracas short with his awesome archery skills.

Hey the bigger news is that there is our first good look of Stephen Fry as the Master of the Lake Town and his Grima Wormtongue looking minion! He looks suitably oily and nasty.

Yeah these two are better in my opinion too. Bard is doing a "dramatic archery pose", which doesn't have to be practical, only look cool.

Not a big fan of the Grima look-a-like, by the way. Another penultimate callback to LOTR! Seems like PJ is still trying to do lots of parallels with the original trilogy. Laketown=Edoras? I hope not.

My thoughts exactly!

I expected a bit more heroic poster for Gandalf. He looks a bit wimpy and scared there. Looks like I have to wait for a new avatar picture.

And yes the long banner for AUJ was the best poster for the film. Although they would have to use nearly 1/4 of it again for the DoS one. ;)

Just saw the trailer! Or at least, what they showed of it on THe Today Show, which I don't think was the whole thing.

There's actually shots of Sauron / Necromancer's army - marching orc soldiers that reminded me of the shot of marching orcs from the very first LOTR teaser (the shot that never made it into the film)

It also shows the famous "I found something in the goblin caves" "What did you find?" >sneaks ring into pocket< "My courage" scene that was described way back at the first comic con presentation, back when there was only 2 films

Also, the trailer confirms there is a Legolas / Tauriel love angle. Thranduil says something to Legolas like "Don't desire something you can't have", or something like that, while it shows Tauriel.

Beyond that, there was some of the old shots of the barrel ride and elves in trees stuff, the shot of Azog from the last trailer, and some new shots of Bilbo picking up the ring in the woods. No Bard or any other new characters that I can recall.

The music was stock trailer music and nothing by Shore

I forgot to mention that the Today Show hosts were interviewing Ian McKellen and Orlando Bloom before and after the trailer clip too. Ian McKellen looks great and is very full of life and vigor, he was having a great time. Orlando Bloom looks noticeably older now than he did 14 years ago, with very apparent bags under his eyes. Gonna be a lot of digital tinkering to de-age his face in all his closeups.

Goodbye nice adventure, welcome action adventure-extravaganza! Not that we didn't know that already but this trailer more than confirms the image.

I think I'll just throw away every preconception and indeed expectations created by the book and watch the rest of the trilogy as modern action blockbuster. Less heart ache that way.

The CGI still looks horribly CGI in many shots.

Cumberbatch's voice fits Smaug quite well I feel. He is recognizable enough too.

But on the whole I think it will be a very entertaining second part of the journey. :)
