Quintus 5,391
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfQrQkt7jXQ Its a shaky start and the sound quality could be (alot) better, but I think these guys did okay. The tempo is vrooooooom and the mad as a hatter conducter goes VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! A conducter on speed is always a funny sight. But Ottman's rendition is still better imo.Disclaimer: I compare in jest
Mooz0r 23
What's that lone trombone doing down there? LOL I think he has the wrong note
BLUMENKOHL 1,064
I don't understand JWFan's obsession with fast performances being amazing. Once you get a hang of a piece, your natural instinct is to go faster and faster, there's little effort involved.
GoodMusician 53
The tempo I don't think is that off. It's very energetic. Perhaps a hair too fast in moments... like at the end... it should have died almost completely before it built up...it seemed sped up there... there was another moment earlier... but I think it's exactly where it should be for most...Good performance. Great balance in the instruments.

Watch any high school band doing Star Wars if you need evidence of this.
Red 73
That was a pretty decent performance. Kudos for trying something different, and for the crazy conductor.

Morlock 9
I don't get it....this performance is not at all significantly faster than the JW ones, and certainly not as good. What's the point of this? to point out that Ottman's version sucked?
GoodMusician 53
I'm not sure I hear what was so bad about the performance... I mean, through the sound quality, I could not sense many missed notes... And the instruments seemed well balanced. the parts I love to listen for in the normal recording came out well.. I can see how it wasn't GREAT... but it still is superior to most attempts I've heard. At least everything that needed to be heard... the flutes and violins in their respective positions... and cello and perc and such... bass... all the the big evidant parts were well represented...I also agree it was not significantly faster... it was definately FULL of energy... but not too much faster... One could say that if anything, at least the tempo was consistant and did not become tempi as most bands/ensambles of this calibur tend to do lol
David Vincent 8
I think it is a good performance but the tempo is normal. Anyway, the conductor should have pain in his arms at the end of the concert. John Williams should be muscled after such a career 8O

Quintus 5,391
What's the point of this? to point out that Ottman's version sucked? Not at all. Like I said, I only compared in jest. And because I know some around here were deeply disappointed with Ottman's version, not that I was one of them.Relax 8O Oh and I just found this new video: Its the Raiders March performed quite bloody well actually. Its just a shame the clip is a bit f**ked up in places :?Still, its always nice to see Williams getting plenty of recognition on that fine website. Frosty 0
I thought that the Superman returns version of the marcfh wasn't all that bad. Remeber they had to edit it for the opening credits. This performance is commendable. Percussion was all over the map, though...
