Miguel Andrade 964
Don't know much of his music, but what I've heard is quiet interesting -- and that was only his concert music.Naxos made numerous recordings dedicadet to Arnold's music (http://www.naxos.com/composerinfo/38.htm), and I remember reading back when they were released, that the complete symphonies cycle were a must.May he rest in peace. Marian Schedenig 5,520
I think the only Arnold music I have on CD is Tam O'Shanter. I should listen to that again, it's great.

Saxbabe 28
Wish I did have a CD of Tam O'Shanter - played its Overture in college and it was a BLAST. Guy had a real sense of humor. Also played many of his concert works, all great, will have to add his music to my collection in memory...His talent will be missed-
TownerFan 4,548
He was a great composer, both of film music and concert music. His score to The Inn of the Sixth Happiness is a favourite of mine, with a Williams-esque main theme.Another great feat from him is the astonishing Jon Lord's Concerto for Group and Orchestra he conducted along the Deep Purple at the Royal Albert Hall back in the 70's. Great stuff.

Omen II 1,088
I've seen a ton of his c.d.'s at the library.k.M.Who hasn't borrowed any of them yetMark,I recommend this CD if it is available at your library:http://www.chandos.net/Details05.asp?CNumb...ber=CHAN%209100Malcolm Arnold's film music is very accessible and these selections performed by the impeccable LSO are a good introduction to his film works. He was a master of orchestration and always wrote some cracking good tunes to go with it.
pixie_twinkle 44
His little suites for youth orchestra were wonderful. I played them both in my youth, and they made a big impression on me. They certainly helped nurture my love of music from an early age. Thank you Malcolm Arnold. RIP
