So is this the current version of the poll? Anyway, the first scores that came to my mind when I read the title were The Adventures of Robin Hood, Captain Blood and Scaramouche.

And from what I remember, I wouldn't label Nevsky a "sword(/sorcery) score".

Ben Hur and Conan the Barbarian do it for me. Poledouris is a big fan of Miklos Rozsa and it shows in his evocative and epic scoring. I especially love the cue used for when Conan walks away from destroying the temple with a girl in his arms (towards the end of the film).

Ben Hur...oh...I love this score...I cry like a baby whenever I hear the final cue used for the scene with the blood of Jesus running down Golgotha in the rain storm. Just call me an old softy.

Edit: Also have to agree with Marian on this one in that a lot of Korngold's stuff, like Robin Hood, was simply brilliant.

Ben Hur without a doubt (from this list).

The Sea Hawk should be on this list, though. That would have been my choice.

I agree, with this list Ben Hur is without a doubt.

It soars above all else hear.

I'm going to guess this is the correct thread.

I missed Ben Hur for some reason. I voted LOTR but it should have been Ben Hur.

All of which are Swashbucklers, not S & S films.

Sword *and/or* Sorcery is the title of this thread. There's plenty of swords in those swashbucklers - for me, they represent the "sword movies" genre better than LOTR does, and I'd vote for them rather than LOTR in this context.

Lord of the Rings by a mile. BUT it's not my favorite score on the list. That vote goes to Goldsmith's 13th Warrior

Huh? :?

If we're talking about swords and sorcery, LOTR wins. I don't really consider 13th Warrior to be a "swords and sorcery" movie, but I still enjoy it.

Shame I can remember neither Ben Hur nor Sinbad, because I'm sure they're amazing, so my vote went to Conan. (There just isn't enough Poledouris around)

Or "KRULL" for that matter? Easily the best contender for Best Sword and Sorcery score. Now put away that "TROY" score before it's too late.

And....as there are many "Sinbad" scores out there, the Bernard Herrmann score mentioned above is "THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD" and should have been listed as such in the poll.

Not that I'm bitching or anything. :)
