pixie_twinkle 44
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but the new IMDB poll is for the scariest film score. The selections are pretty good (Goblin "Suspiria", Oldfield "Exorcist", Goldsmith "Omen" and others). Right now Williams "Jaws is winning with just over 20% of the total vote.www.IMDB.com
Mr. Breathmask 480
Haven't heard all of this stuff, but I voted for The Omen. One of those scores that, if you're squeamish, is better listened to with the lights on.
SomeNewGuy 0
I voted The Omen because The Fury wasn't listed.I've only heard a bit of The Fury, but it scares the crap out of me.
pixie_twinkle 44
I'm afraid I voted for Suspiria. Just because it's scary as HELL!!! Not very loyal to Williams I know, and if the poll was "What is the best score" I would certainly pick Jaws from that list. Suspiria is very VERY scary music. Like a child's music-box posessed by a devil.
John Crichton 4
The Fury definately deserves to be represented. Dracula too. Both of them are more pure "horror" than Jaws, IMO.
Red 73
Jaws, just because its so effective.
BLUMENKOHL 1,064
Jaws? Scary?Suspenseful? Maybe. But scary? Not quite. The only reason The Omen isn't winning is because not a great deal of people have heard it.

Mr. Breathmask 480
Which is why I said, "if you're squeamish"...- Marc, who likes listening to The Omen in the dark occassionally.
Ollie 859
The very first time I listened to CE3K (back in 1978) I had the lights off and after listening to Barry's Abduction I turned the lights on.
Mr. Breathmask 480
Yeah, that cue is freaky.I love listening to music in the dark. You get great imagery from powerful music, and you can concentrate better on the music, seeing how sight is pretty much disabled if you're in a good dark place. Just listen to CE3K's finale in the dark. Gorgeous.

pixie_twinkle 44
Tonight was the trick-or-treat night for the local kiddies. My fiancee and I dressed up and opened the garage door to greet the little horrors as they went by and to hand out sweets. I brought out my boombox and put the soundtrack to Suspiria on, echoing out into the dark street. It was really quite scary! A bit too scary for the younger ones. But hey, if you can't scare other peoples' children occasionally what can you do?Happy Halloween!

BurgaFlippinMan 7
while i do enjoy the Omen a lot, it has never scared me at all. :S does watching the film make it more scary?
robthehand 3
while i do enjoy the Omen a lot, it has never scared me at all. :S does watching the film make it more scary? Not exactly. But it makes the film quite scary, in places. But I've always found The Omen (the film) to be more fun-scary than scary-scary - that's not exactly a critcism, but it just never left a lasting impression on me, in the way that something like The Exorcist did. Goldsmithfan 3
Didja ever read The Exorcist? I read it before I saw it and, in my opinion, the film version is probably the worst book adaptation I've ever seen. Absolutely atrocious lack of common sense regarding the buildup to the possession. I'm not saying this in defense of The Omen, which I like but not nearly as much as I used to, but just to try to get into the head of one of the many people who say The Exorcist left a lasting impression on them. After it was over, I wanted to get the past two hours back.
Ollie 859
When did you read and see The Exorcist?I think nowadays we are so used to seeing this kinda stuff because regular TV shows more, Video Games are more violent and there is an overflow of horror films We know shrug our shoulders and say "so what?". But back in the early 70's I can see why people would get scared or upset by films like The Omen and the Exorcist.
Romão 1,931
I still find the Exorcist to be a very unsettling movie. Aamazing performances all around.

BLUMENKOHL 1,064
I've read the book and seen the movie.Neither took the least bit away from the other, but both were quite excellent.Must be just you, Goldsmithfan.
