Charlotte's Web Score Clips

You can preview each track of Danny Elfman's upcoming score to Charlotte's Web at the movie's website. After entering the site, click "Let's Go" at the bottom of the Zuckerman's Farm area, and the soundtrack icon will be at the left.

The clips sound good, just what you'd probably expect from Elfman for this project. This is really the only score I'm anticipating this fall/winter, other than maybe Doyle's Eragon.

I'm looking forward to this score as well. Wasn't too impressed with the trailer for the film. A little too cutesy and wasn't put together that well.

Yeah, I don't know about the film. Could be good, but it could easily be over the top. I just know that it presents a perfect canvas for Elfman to write just the kind of score he's great at!

That's quite an enticing review. I competely agree with what's said about Elfman's talent with regards to musically serving a film; it's certainly unique and refreshing among so many cookie-cutter MV-type scores for a composer to truly evaluate the nuances of a film and how his music should complement and elevate it. I've been surprised by the seeming lack of interest for this score. Are there fewer Elfman fans around here than I thought, or are they just uninterested in this particular project?

It was always in the back of my mind, but I am excited about it. It'll be a nice surprise.

Anyone care to comment on the score? I'm contemplating buying it, but I was kind of turned off by Film Score Monthly's comments about it in their podcast. The music sounded decent, but a lot like Corpse Bride.

Based only on my first listen, since I haven't had a lot of free time lately, I'd say it's a pretty good score, very Elfman-like of course, some tracks do sound a lot like Corpse Bride but I don't mind too much because I love Corpse Bride, it was my second favorite score of last year. Some parts also sound a bit like Serenada Schizophrana though.

All in all a good score from Elfman, not his greatest, but quite good. I'll listen to it more carefully over the weekend and comment more on it.

I actually am really enjoying the score so far. The theme for Charlotte is indeed quite similar to the main theme from Corpse Bride, especially in the first few chord progressions, but after hearing it more and more throughout the score I feel it has its own unique personality. The same can also be said for the score as a whole. It definitely has a country, farm-like feel to it, at times sounding like an extension of Big Fish. But it is distinct enough to stand on its own, and Elfman's typical use of choir and unexpected chord changes are all there. I recommend the album, as it's an enjoyable, pleasant, and at times quite moving score.
