ChuckM 1
Sorry if this was brought up before, I tried to search for it, but the search feature on this site is not very user friendly. My question is about the disco-like version of the CEot3K theme. Did JW actually arrange that, or someone else? And why? What were they thinking?
Lurker 5
The disco track on the album is co-produced by Williams. What were they thinking? Probably that Meco had a big hit with Star Wars and they wanted to see if they could do that, too.Neil
Sergeant 1,093
Nice bump from childhood. With the OST-LP it came a single with this CE disco piece. It sounded cool!I have no idea what was on the other side of that single? What were they thinking? No idea - money perhaps?

Guest macrea
Neil is spot-on, I think. Could also have been a factor in why CE3K was originally planned as a 2-LP set and then changed to 1 platter. They instead went with the pop single since Meco's "Star Wars" was a huge hit (actually became #1 song in August '77) Irony is that Meco's CE3K theme was another hit while Williams' own got no airplay. Ollie 859
I like Williams disco version. That's why I kept my Varese CD, plus it has the original end credits cue.

I sounds pretty nostalgic in a very awkward way. I actually never heard it in the 70s but I was familiar with MECO's attempt. Honestly, I think Williams' version beats MECO in the "odd" department. Ollie 859
I had both versions as a kid, actually I still have both versions , I agree Williams is a bit more quirky. Meco's suprisingly comes as a pretty straight forward version, minus the little kid's voice at the end.
