Goldsmithfan 3
What if Williams had decided to score the birth of the twins in Episode III with the "Luke and Leia" theme he composed for Return of the Jedi? I think it might have been kinda nice . . . and would have added more musical symmetry.
Romão 1,931
I don´t fully agree. The Luke and Leia theme represents a relationship that blossomed in ESB, specially after Luke´s telepathic contact with his sister. I don´t think they "deserve" that theme before that. Genius_Gone_Insane 5
You guys are both right. It would have definitely been interesting (no question there) to hear Luke and Leia there. Ultimately (to use GL's favorite word), it worked out fine and made more sense to just go with theme from Harry Potter.**kidding. I don't even own the Potter soundtrack... I think it worked out perfect.
Mr. Breathmask 480
It would have distracted from the scene in question.

Red 73
I think that the original scene works fine, but it still would have been interesting (possibly even better) if he used "Luke & Leia".

Morlock 9
I've always thought Luke & Leia was a little boring. I used to think that. Now I am of the opinion that it the most beautiful theme in the series, a ravishing piece (in a non-incestuous way).

I don´t think they "deserve" that theme before that. Not sure if they deserve it or not, but the theme in ROTJ is only used after they realize they're brother and sister so it wouldn't have made that much sense to use it when they're born. Celeste renditions of their respective themes would have been better I think.
Ollie 859
Then people would be screaming that Williams ruined it since the theme is not supposed to appear until ROTJ.
John Crichton 4
It would have been totally inappropriate. The theme is for the relationship between Luke and Leia, not just the characters themselves. And how much of a relationship could they have had 5 seconds out of the womb? Good call by Williams. Morlock 9
I doubt it seriously occured to him. And, either way, I'm sure Lucas was the guiding force in the use of themes.

Good call by Williams.I kind of look at the theme as a piece that signifies the ties that bind them. (In this case, bloodlines) So it would have been like this:Episode III: Aww, look at the babies!Return of the Jedi: And now they know they're brother and sister. I like the use of that theme in both of these films so we know that now they know, ya know?Okay, Luke and Leia aside, what about the Death Star motive? It's all but forgotten! What about a quiet, little reprise in Episode II when the hologram of the "ultimate weapon" is revealed? Hmm? Hmm? Hmmmmmmmmm?
Ollie 859
There are plenty of "what if?" scenerios for the prequels.Who really knows what Williams wanted to do. I have a feeling that after TPM Williams just decided to score the films normally.
Neimoidian 13
Beware - GL might be reading it and taking notes so to implement all these ideas in his new revision of SW Saga I don't mind the lack of Luke and Leia theme in RotS, I like the aetheral cue that accompany the birth scene. Besides there is on place for it anyway. We don't see Like and Leia together. We see first child, then second, and afterwards we focus on Padme's death. All these in couple of seconds. Not enough to play the whole theme anyway. The reprise of 'DS' motive would be more appropriate since there is no other music in the hologram scene.I would rather have Anakin's Theme developed in AotC & RotS. Goldsmithfan 3
I actually expected to get thrashed more as a result of my scenario for the Death Star motive than for the "Luke and Leia" reprise. Silly me, I still don't wholly understand this board . . . but who does?I'm glad someone likes that idea though. Not that I'd have filled the prequels with nods to the fans of the scores if I'd been in Williams' shoes, but there were a few small instances that needed a little wink. And whatever happened to the droids' theme!?!I also think Anakin's theme was forgotten far too much in the scores after The Phantom Menace. This thread actually reminded me of somthing I've been meaning to bring up. Was Palpatine's theme used in Attack of the Clones? I believe I remember hearing it in the film, but I can't remember. (And I'm on JWfan! Psh. I should be whipped for this.)I believe I'll have to check "Confrontation With Count Dooku" in order to check this out . . .

John Crichton 4
It's also in the unreleased Anakin's Confession. I beleive it might also be hinted at in some of the unreleased underscore, but I'm not 100% positive on that. It hard to tell on DVD rips.

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,251
That Williams put a lot of effort into TPM, then saw how much of it was hacked up, or buried under sound effects, and put a little less sweat into the subsequent 2 scores. Red 73
The biggest "missed mark" as far as themes in the prequels is, in my opinion, Anakin's Theme. Such a beautiful theme that was cast aside before it even had a chance. Imagine what it could have been, especially in ROTS.I have to wonder what Williams was thinking. I expected much more for Anakin's theme when I first heard it back in '99. Such a shame.
