How many years have they been saying "And the Oscar goes to"? And what does Nicole Kidman do for the first award of the evening? Say "And the winner is..." It's astounding that people who make millions of dollars per picture can't even get through a 2-minute TV appearance without screwing up. And this is supposed to be a show about the industry's best. Two twelve year-olds got it right on the next award.

Rubbish. That award for Pirates was very, very well-deserved.

Isn't the win for POTC the first win by Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic since...well a long time? The last ILM movie I remember winning FX was Forrest Gump over a decade ago.

Wow what an embarrassment, first what should have been an honorable moment for Morricone is a disaster and now Santaolla wins another Oscar.

The Academy needs to change the rules. It's his second movie, and second academy award, where less than 20% of the movie's score is by him. And in the 15 minute of score, it's variation on all the same theme.

It won't take long that other film scorer will simply lobby like they did in the early 90's with Menken. Menken was NOT diserving the awards he got, nor does that guy.

This is bullshit.

What's even worse is that when they played clips from the nominees, and came up to Babel, they just played Iguazu - again.

That's because nothing in Babel is even remotely grand or thematic enough to play against a montage like that.

And yes, Morricone's bit was messed up. Either Eastwood was really nervous, or he couldn't read the autocue :(

I'll defend his win for Brokeback Mountain until the day I die. But Babel? Babel?!?!?!?!?!!? That's f***ing ridiculous! Another sad day for the score category.
