Cinderella Liberty

I was really excited to see that the score for "Cinderella Liberty" will be isolated on the DVD release.

The DVD arrives tomorrow (finially).

I saw it on TV about 12 years ago...not a great film - a little melodramatic, but it was watchable.

The score, of course, is another matter. It features great harmonica performances by Toots Theilmanns and one of John's best songs "Nice to be Around".

Forgive me if this was mentioned in another thread. I went through the last couple of days and didn't see anything.

Why would it have an isolated score?

Because it can.

Nick Redman has said Fox is getting aggressive with isolated scores, so this can only be a good thing.

I am not that eager to watch the movie, but I love the score anyway. It is - quite surprisingly - one of my favourite of John Williams. It is a pity that so many people have never heard it.

So...this won't be the next club release then?

One less release for everyone to bitch and complain about.

So image runs faster, but the sound is correct right?

Bloody inconsistent morons!

So if you would rip the music, you wouldn't have to correct anything?

There's no way to find out in which dvds it has been corrected I assume?

On some (or many) PAL DVD releases they adjust the pitch so the sound is correct even though it runs 4% faster.

If it runs 4% too fast, how is it correct?

Rubbish!

Well, yes, but I, unlike our Belgian friend, actually have a proper region-free DVD player.

Honestly, who doesn't have one of those these days?

I don't :)

I should look into it on how to change my dvd player; but I don't have a real need for region 1 dvds yet.

Do you buy many R1 DVDs?

I only have one R1 releae at the moment (the 30th Anniversary Edition of Jaws), but plan to buy some more in the future, mainly releases that didn't come out here or are only available in a rubbish form. And it's always good to have a region-free player, just in case. Especially if you're a stickler for having proper sounding iso scores.

Blu-ray/HD-DVD discs have no region code, and all run at the correct speed (no PAL/NTSC).

Wouldn't it be nice if all 4 discs were Williams related ?

No. "My poor wallet" wouldn't even begin to cover that. :)

The front page indicates it does have an iso score prepared by Mastessino.

Yeah, I saw this in this in a store today, and I was very surprised when I saw "isolated score" on the back. I'm tempted to go back and get it now. Then again, this really is one of my least favorite JW scores. But still...

Has anyone listened to it yet? Is there a lot of unreleased music?

Ozzel - whose copy of the score sadly doesn't include the Paul Williams song

There's also a commentary track by the director. Wonder if he mentions Williams.

Tim

I'm sure he will. I met Rydell once, and he was practically spewing praise for Williams.

If it's included.

It would be heaven! But I guess I would have to sell one of my kids to pay for the discs :D

Maybe you could just take one of your kids into a pawnshop for some weeks, and buy the discs. After you have raised enough money, you could claim the kid back!
