Dear JWFan users,

As good as the rules passed down to us by the great Ricard are, they still sometimes need a little tweaking. Sometimes it's bending them a little, sometimes it's tightening them.

In this case, I have decided to expand rule #04. For those who have forgotten:

04 - In order to avoid controversial off-topic debates, political and religious references are NOT ALLOWED on any of the forums.

Basically, this rule is here to avoid people from violently clashing over things they hold dear (or not so dear). Either way, it avoids (succesfully, in my opinion) hot topics from spinning out of control or possibly even setting members at bad terms with one another.

There is, however, another topic that it seems can never go by without strong statements or potential mudslinging. Many threads have boiled down to this topic, or have wildly derailed because of it.

Therefor, as of today, the subject of STAR WARS is also a nono.

This concerns any part of the franchise, including any version of all 6 movies, the TV shows, the books, the video games, the merchandise, the film's history and possible influences, and the music.

To insure no topic derails in mindless bashing of another way, you are also no longer allowed to discuss the works of GEORGE LUCAS, present or past. This also includes any material produced by LUCASFILM, in the slightest related to the STAR WARS franchise. I'll be lenient and continue to allow discussion of the MONKEY ISLAND series, as long as the term LUCASARTS isn't dropped anywhere.

Members who have STAR WARS-related avatars or signatures have 24 hours to remove them.

Members with a STAR WARS (or THX-1138) related name have 24 hours to submit a new username of their choice, which I will then alter for them through the Admin CP.

Failure to comply after this first 24-hour period will result in a forced removal of offending signature and avatar, a forced change in username, and a possible suspension for a period of at least 7 days.

To summarize, as of today in a preliminary lenient mode, and as of tomorrow as a strict rule, the following applies to all members of the JWFan.net Forums:

04 - In order to avoid controversial off-topic debates, political and religious references are NOT ALLOWED on any of the forums, as well as any discussion concerning George Lucas, Star Wars, Lucasfilm, and any products related to either of these three.

I'm sure you will all see the wisdom of this amendment in time.

That is all.

Enjoy the boards, everyone!

- Marc

Not right now. Just don't mention Mr. L in any discussion of it.

If it turns out he gets mentioned too much, discussion of Indy will have to go too.

so you're saying that now that I've finally both the technological ability and time to sit down and do this, I can't discuss it here?...

would it be against the rules then to link to an oviously (obmited film name) site where I am speaking about my edits and such?

Please note the new rule in effect, as posted in the announcement section on all forums.

Thank you.

At last the cowardly Moderator of JWFAN who doesn't even follow his own rules reveals his true intentions.

You have exceeded the authority given to you. Have you forgotten that it was only Neil that made you Moderator,?

Given absolute power by number 2. Buzz Aldrin instead of Neil Armstrong, France instead of Italy, Joel Goldsmith, instead of Jerry.

I no longer reconize your authority!

LONG LIVE KING RICARD!, LONG LIVE JERRY GOLDSMITH!

I never changed my Avatar but now I think , the time is right.

Harhar. You have about 16 hours left to remove it.

Under Marc's rule 4 amendment should Hornist and KM be banned?

There's 16 hours left until the preliminary enforcement ends.

After that, either the avatars are gone, or they are.

So I can say STARWARS STARWARS STARWARS STARWARS STARWARS STARWARS STARWARS STARWARS STARWARS STARWARS STARWARS STARWARS for another 16 hours?

That also means you have to change your username........ ;)

Ohhhhh . . . That's right. The Star Wars trilogy!!!

Ahem.

-------

I find this... provocative.

Mr. Breathmask alludes to a character from a movie franchise to you have banned here, Mein Furher.

That's what you may think, but in order to avoid controversy, I shall set an example and change my name.

"Star Wars, nothing but Star Wars..."

I am offended by this comment, Marc. Please revise it, re-edit it and destroy the original.

I just can't deal with all this un-PC unpleasantness.

As much as I like my DeLorean avatars, I think it's appropriate to set them aside temporarily in light of recent circumstances. (Yes, I even like the prequels!)

Read the new rule. Here.

That's got to be an April Fools' Day joke. I mean, c'mon!

You can't talk about Religion, Politics or . . . Star Wars!

Oops. Did it again.

Allow me to amend my previous statement.

You can't talk about R______n, P______s, or . . . S__r W__s!

What about the far more PC "Episode IV - A New Hope, nothing but Episode IV - A New Hope..."?

I am The Lord. Not a Lord.

And Lord as in Lord of People. You know, with the throne and stuff. Not a deity, as that would also conflict with rule #04, not to mention being downright obnoxious.

"The Lord" is pretty much the most pompous name you could possibly give yourself.

Good job, Marc.

Thrones are used in Star Wars as well so... :P

Mr. Breathmask (I refuse to call him The Lord) has gone too far.

Of course he has..... :(

He's just another person with a huge responsibility who's let it go to his head.

I say the elders call an emergancy meeting and name Steef moderator of JWFAN.
