They are great, and easily the best (for me: only good) thing he's done since the 90s (where he did a ton of great work)

Yeah, if he's firing on all cylinders, it could be a pretty great score. I should add that the director also directed Moana (which I liked but didn't love, score wise) which is probably where MM getting the job came from, but it bodes pretty well. I shall now listen to Twister in celebration!

There was a time when I couldn't get enough Mancina… he ruled 80s action scores. Hoping his Fair Game gets a release one of these days.

Love the love for Mancina - Speed 2 remains the only fully orchestral realisation of the RCP sound. And it is glorious.

 

The same stuff sounds terrible when someone tries to do The Rock with a full orchestra.

 

Mancina's stuff was composed for a full orchestra in the first place, hence, it plays around with instrumentation (ie, it was conceived as an orchestral score with instrumental parts for each section of the orchestra).

 

Fantastic stuff that is so different from the RCP stuff that was done in 1997 (and that was not bad)>
