So what's Spider-Man 3 gonna be like?

Recommended Posts

Will we have an episodic adventure where we're presented with a popular comedian who gets about equal screentime with Tobey Maguire, a huge emphasis on computers and technology, slapstick acting and direction, songs by Giorgio Moroder, a really cool scene where evil!Spider-Man fights good!Peter Parker in a junkyard, and a hot intelligent blonde who pretends to be a bimbo?

I think it's going to be pretty stinkin' awesome. I can't wait to see it. I just hope that Young does justice to Elfman's themes. (Or whoever it is that is doing it, if not Young)

Sounds like a winning formula!

it will be worse than the first two, and neither of them were particularly good. And the effects look to have taken a step back in the previews.

It has Venom and the alien symbionte in it, it's going to be great, just great! Ever since I was a little kid I wanted this story to become a movie.

I'm not entirely happy with the design of the black suit because it's nothing more than, well, a black spidey suit, and I expected it to be more like the original design in the comic book, but that can't stop me from loving this film. It's such a great story, no director could possibly destroy it. No chance.

By the way, I get the impression that alot of people nowadays go to the movies just to bash and pick at them.

Even during Casino Royale, when the end credits rolled, the first thing some people behind me said was "The problem of the film is ..."

It's great entertainment, so shut up and enjoy!

Oh how I hope the movie sucks just so you can suffer.

and I don't see how hard that will be for it to suck.

Very mature.

And even if it does suck, it won't suck half as bad as the sixth Potter book did. That one sucked SO bad.

Now this isn't very mature as well, but since you dragged it down to this sucking level ...

gkgyver- realising that alot of sucking is going on here

hey what you think of potter is irrelevent, nothing changes the fact that the first two spiderman movies were mediocre, despite their huge boxoffice success, and 3rd time is rarely ever the charm in the movie industry.

you laid a challange, I answered, don't be so smarmy next time. your letting your hideous avatar be your personality.

I urge you to stop

still expect spidey 3 to top the boxoffice next week, and set new records, it is inevitable.

I loved reading the Black Suit saga when I was a kid, and I would be much more optimistic if that was the centerpiece of the movie, which doesn't seem to be the case.

I'll go and see it, even though I'm not the biggest fan of the two previous movies. It still is a lot of fun seeing these characters realised on the big screen.

I imagine that the flick will be very enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing it this Saturday before I hit up the Philly Orchestra for Mahler's 2nd :P

Gonna be a good day!

I love hearing y'all complain about the first two movies, despite the fact that they're among the most successful movies of all time. I don't know a single person, young or old, outside this board who dislikes either movie.

Personally, I'm looking forward to 3. Chris Young was a good choice to do the music, so I imagine the music will be pretty darn good.

In a certain other second sequel, Richard Pryor creates a tar-laced form of Kryptonite that turns Superman bad, and in Spider-Man 3, this icky stuff that looks a lot like tar (or even the black oil from The X-Files) turns Spidey bad! What a rip-off!

Oh yeah, *I* laid "the challenge".

That the two Spidey movies were mediocre is neither fact nor reasonable to say.

I really don't want to talk to you, but you attacked me for no reason whatsoever.

To quote the show you hint at: I don't know what your parents did to you ...

On to more important things. Any news on a score release? The last one was released two or three weeks after the movie's release. Is it just me or is that a strange way to promote an album?

While it is certainly not fact, it is very reasonable to state one's opinion about a movie. And personally, I agree that the first two were mediocre.

By the way, I get the impression that alot of people nowadays go to the movies just to bash and pick at them.

What a simple post. "Shut up and Enjoy!"? I wish I could! But it's too darn bad for me to enjoy! And you say "even Casino Royale" What on earth does that mean? Has it been conclusivly proven that Casino Royale is a flawless film? I LOVED Casino Royale, and the first words that came out of my mouth were 'It's friggin' fantastic. The end slowed it down a bit and got a bit messy, but still, , the best Bond film since Goldfinger'.

You have to realize that there are those who don't like the Spiderman movies, and that it doesn't make those people bitter cynics. You can argue in the films defence, certainly, but bringing arguments like the above ones just makes you sound like a fanboy with whom there's no point discussing the matter with. [/rant]

I fear this movie has too many elements playing at once for its own good. There's no way they could make so many things that are essential to the Spider-man universe (symbiote, 3 villains, Gwen Stacy and love triangle) work at once. Nothing developed. There will be place only for endless cameos. It'll be hugely underwhelming, I'm afraid.

Pirates of the Carribean was very successful, and many people like it. So as far as I'm concerned, your argument doesn't go very far.

Depends on how much freedom Young actually had when writing the score...

again quit being smarmy, btw my parents were good to me, what just as Im sure yours were to you.

and quit being a baby, you weren't attacked, however if you want to be that can be arranged.

But I'm not making an argument, only laughing at the small-mindedness of this niche community. :P

Pirates of the Caribbean requires a very small mind indeed!

:)

It's a summer movie blockbuster, just like the Spider-Man movies... what'd you expect?

If there is going to be a score release, chances are it might not come out until later in the summer like the other two Spider-Man score OST's since I believe they came out about two months after their films release.

As far as the films go, I love Spider-Man 1 and 2 and I definitely CAN NOT wait to see Spider-Man 3. No doubt I will enjoy the film.

For other people's opinions about the films I enjoy while others hate, I honestly don't give a damn about their opinions. It won't stop me from enjoying the shows.

I've learned in the last few years that with the internet and message boards like this you will always have people who hate films you enjoy and will always bitch about em' whenever they get a chance. I've just learned to ignore those opinions and just enjoy the films for myselves.

it sounds funny that you say that marc especially after seeing Star Trek's episode A Piece of the Action, when Spock says it.

Maybe if he said it as Darth Vader...

Well, I've just seen Spidey 3 and let me tell you: music-wise, this is by far - and by that I mean lightyears - the worst film I've ever seen. The tracking is SO bad, even the prequels stand out as jewels compared to this film!

I do not exaggerate, and I mean that, when I say that approximately 10 to 15 minutes of Young score made it into the final picture.

The Elfman pieces (and always the same ones!) got used so often, it actually made me nauseous. Rather tellingly, whenever Young is in the scene, rare enough, his score features variants on Elfman's stuff.

The whole thing felt like watching a temp track peppered with music Christopher Young wrote in an early stage to give Sam Raimi some preview. About 80 % of the score is tracked, I still don't believe it. Even the main titles are a bad-flowing conglomerate of Elfman's original title music and Young's.

You'd think a director sees it when the amount of tracking hurts the film more than any original score, as bad as it may seem in the eyes of the director.

What a shock. Most expensive movie of all time, what a waste.

I can guess by the trailers(in which they show way too much) that this movie will not be as good as expected.

Why are directors so inept at incorporating music into their films? This whole Elfman-Young-Temp Track-Raimi garbage is just insane, though. I've heard of things like this b efore, but never on such a large scale of absurdness.

Elfman said effectivly that Raimi went crazy, and became so anal an auteurish that he was impossible to please.
