The Phantom Menace Questions

OK, I first stumbled upon JWfan.net in 2000 just before The Patriot was released so forgive me if this was discussed before when it first came out, but I was listening to TPM OT the other day and wondered...

1. What exactly is the reference in the title "Augie's Great Municipal Band"? (i.e. Why is that track titled that?)

2. Where is that electronic bridge between the "Droid Invasion" and "The Appearance of Darth Maul" from? Was it just inserted into the album to make the transition between cues smoother or is it from some unrealeased part of the score?

Thanks.

1) Augies was the name of John Williams jazz band if I remember right... and the title is just an allusion to that.

2) That bridge is an alternate to "Jedi High Council I." The film version can be heard on track 5 of the SE.

And that would be when Anakin is taking his little test or whatever. right?

I think it was from a cut moment during the "Droid Invasion".

That's an interesting idea... It's just hard to say because the only time JW uses pure synth in the score at all is during the part when we are seeing the Jedi Council for the first time... I don't know of any cut scene... have you checked to see if there is anything? T-Bones world might have it?

As far as I had been told, it was the alternate to "Jedi Council I"... (when Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan speak to the council... the first time we see them ever) They're about the same length... both synth, the only pure synth part in the score... just makes sense to me...

I guess the real answer is "We arn't 100% sure... but we think it's this."

She looks like a man............

We'll know where the music was supposed to go when we get a correct assembled version of the complete score released.

I didn't think this deserved a new topic, so I'm occupying this one because it's somehwat related and the discussion seems to be closed, so I'm not interrumpting anything.

Somebody give this man a Pulitzer!

I just wanted to share with you the moral of the story: if you watch the prequels over and over and over, they'll eventually become good. Also, you will forget what number goes after 7, but that's another story.

I know you can find good in almost anything if you study it enough. But when it all comes down to it, that article is a piece of fanboyism, written by a fanboy.

Nope, Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back are still great thru adult eyes and the rest are still crappy.

I hijacked the thread in my post above, because I didn't think the article itself deserved a new topic and the original discussion here seemed to have ended.

Please feel free to return the thread to its original path if you wish to add anything else.

Come on bring indy IV already Lucas & spielberg, so a fresh kind of bash can surface....

Some of us have been bashing that idea for years here.
