Do you ever wish JW would orchestrate certain orchestra sections like other film scorers do?

While that may be your method for posting.

It is.

Well, it is the method of the posters here to become elitist when someone posts something with the goal of annoying people.

True, but I didn't come in and say something along the lines of "Williams is shit". I believe in what I wrote and I knew it would probably cause a discussion, maybe even a heated one. If that was my goal then blame the great invention of the online discussion board. If people go so far as to get annoyed, then the explaination is self-explanatory: They disagree greatly. The whole elitist thing really isn't in question. This place is brimming with it, but I suppose its to be expected, to a degree. Albeit a distasteful degree, sometimes.

Your first post was fine Great Eye.

Anywho....action music wise Goldsmith doesn't use nearly as much rapid fire brass as John Williams. For Williams it works in some cases, in others it's extremely annoying.

I was not at all refering to your post. You stated your opinion in detail. I totally disagreed with you, but your post was obviously there with intent on interesting discussion.

Okay my bad, do'h! I suppose I read it as an in-direct response to my motives for starting the thread in the first place. Read it from my point of view and it makes sense!

My method most of the time is to state my opinion then explain if requested.

Arlington. Best string writing I've heard in a film score.

Well said

This is one of my most favorite pieces of all time!

Perhaps it would be easier for all if you offered a few reasons with your initial opinion. Just a suggestion.

They have both written beautiful scores. I can see where you are coming from but the truth is that Williams has written incredible passages for strings. Lush, subtle and emotional. John Barry did too but they have different styles that's all. Maybe you are more attracted to John Barry's strings arr. I think it's just a matter of taste.
