I'm a newcomer, but I've only joined just to post this in hopes of getting a Family Plot soundtrack release. I'll probably be leaving after this topic is over.

So you decided to stay after all? This place can be addictive.

The first is the most impressive in one way, the third in another way. Apples and oranges, but both are far sweeter than any of the others.

Tell me about it!
Oh no, not voting is easy I don't mind that.Sifting through trying to get to threads I care about...is a different story.
Yeah, it must be really hard to scroll down one extra inch.

It also means there's no variety. It's like asking a KKK meeting what they think of Jesse.

But, unlike the KKK, we actually have a point.

Morlock- who doesn't think variety is a good enough reason to vote for inferior works

Sorry, I'm having a bad day, and coming here and seeing poll after poll after poll while looking for certain topics was just....ARGGGH *pulls hair out*. ;)

Oh and I voted for Azkaban. Surprise.

I will never, ever understand the attitude that the fact that we Williams fans think a Williams score is best that we are somehow blind or biased or not giving the other guys a chance. Sometimes better is just better. If there's anyone out there who can give a reasoned argument as to why either GoF or OotP is superior to SS or PoA I'd love to hear it.

John- who doubts it

It's totally understandable, this is a JWFan board. Hopefully, one is able to truthfully say that JW is best because JW's music is best, and not that JW's music is best because JW is best.

Morlock- who would also point out that JW being just about as good as it gets at this point is a pretty wide-spread notion in the film music world (be it composers, publications, or boards), and the same goes for his scores

EDIT: Oh, yeah, polls pitting Williams against others are rather pointless 'round here.

God forbid there should be any sort of composer bias, here of all places.

I've tried, it's useless.

But JW's HP scores are better than Doyle's and Hooper's.

In other words, this whole thing was a Horner topic.

Sounds like the next poll is going to be, "Do you like JW?" and then "Does 1 + 1 = 2?"

Thanks guys!

Ray Barnsbury - who voted for Sorcerer's Stone, but could almost as easily have gone with Prisoner of Azkaban

I don't think either of those are superior, but I think OotP is just as good as Sorcerer's Stone, but not PoA.

I'd start setting up my protective spells if I were you. I'll try to hold off Joe long enough for you to get your basic anti-flame spells up.

The world is round.

Well, sure, if you want to look at it that way. I mean-it's all relative, innit? Relative to a straight line, it's round, sure. But relative to a another round object....who knows?

I'm on Protego standby in case things get really ugly.

Sooooooooooo...would the induvidual who voted for GoF care to stand up and give us their reasoning?

I can't believe some fool voted for GOF, other than 3 tracks its a piece of shit.

None of the Potter scores have been bad (or all of them have at least suited the movies), but GoF is by far the worst Potter score. I've never been a huge fan of Doyle.

Funny, the same could hold true for the Sorcerer's Stone.

Not so. But GOF is not as bad as some say either. Just because it isn't amazing doesn't mean it is shit.

not at all, thats bullshit.

Sorcerers Stone is Williams last masterpiece, he'll likely never achieve a score that good, that well conceived again. Doyles work is beneath even his meager talents, he should have stuck to acting.

Well, it's going to be hard to convince you otherwise, since you've already made that decision.

I can always hope, you need to put the joint down and read the post again, I said likely, I didn't say matter of fact. I still hope that Indy 4, or Interstellar might be incredible, Lincoln will be another presidential score evoking the same things last time, and in the end ringing hollow like last time, as there is no passion to that story.

Right.

Still on "likely" territory, are we?

I voted Sorcerer's Stone. For me, it still sparkles as the most enjoyable of the Potter scores, though I really like PoA as well. I won't count CoS in this at all, since it's largely a Sorcerer's Stone rehash with some new material I'm neither fond of nor disgusted by. OoooooooootP probably comes next for me, with Doyle's GoF sitting in last. I like elements of each score, but SS just barely manages to come through in first.

And shouldn't the poll say. "Chamber of Secrets (William Ross and JW)"?

Oh, please not again...

- Datameister, who's very sick of the circular argument that could be engendered yet again by that post
