I've been hearing (or seeing) some rumors on this forum that are saying Lucas is working on re-realising the scores to Indiana Jones, for the premier of Indy 4. Any new on this yet?

It's Lucas, don't rule out an attempt to make more money.

Yeah, I've been thinking about that. Lucas seems to be trying to draw from his past sucesses recently...The SW prequels, Indy 4, and all this "Star Wars 30th anniversary" stuff. It would make sense to him to release these.

I'm sure they will one day be released... maybe still on my great-grand-sons life...

A tie-in next year with Indy 4 has got to be the best hope. If it doesn't happen, then who knows how long it will take.

*His* successes? Wasn't Steven Spielberg involved somewhere in Indiana Jones?

If complete scores don't happen next year, then don't hold your beath for roughly another 10 years.

It is obvious, when looking at how inferior the Star Wars movies are (especially the new ones), that Spielberg was the reason for Indiana Jones not turning out as really embarrassing movies. At the same time, Spielberg hasn't exactly been a genious lately, so I am not keeping my hopes up for Indy IV. The music is of course going to be cool, though:)

I'd be shocked if these scores aren't re-released in some form by the time the film hits DVD.

Just think: by this time next year, we could be...

Yes, but him and Spielberg have always gotten equal credit. Same for SW. He didn't direct ESB and ROTJ, but have you ever heard anybody credting Richard Marquand or Irvin Kershner for SW?

What's the status on the new Indiana Jones video game? I was hoping that if we didn't get complete scores, then maybe we might have something close to the Galaxies/Battlefront 2 resources for the Star Wars prequels.

Richard Marquand directed RotJ.

Officially yes. But it is well known that Lucas ended up co-directing the movie along with Marquand. He deffinately had more to do in Jedi than in Empire. However, in both cases, Lucas had what he wanted, no more, no less.

Indiana Jones films are different. They are a result of the colaboration bewtween Lucas and Spielberg.

Well... I hope that if Peter Hirschmann is still at LucasArts... that he hires Giacchino to make either that or The force Unleashed...

Ah, interesting. Given his work on Medal of Honor, I'm curious as to what he would do with an Indy game score. However, if there were no complete score releases, I'd take Williams cues over a fresh score any day--that is, if that included unreleased cues.

BTW, I just watched the documentary and featurettes on the Indy bonus material DVD. They've definitely got the entirety of TOD in good quality. At one point, you could hear the last statement of the Raiders March in "Underground Heroics" at a completely different point. Sounded like it was actually in excellent condition, and I'm pretty sure there was more unreleased TOD music used throughout.

Even if they wanted to release (or even just repackage) the previous scores, aren't they all published by different labels?

Of course, given that the DCC Raiders and the ToD CD are both out of print, maybe the publishing rights are irrelevant at this point.

I hope Clint Bajakian writes another Indy game score (Emperor's Tomb is amazing!), but unreleased Indy 4 music in the game would be cool too...

I just hope that Spielberg won't try to "family-ize" this movie too much; it already has potential to go in that direction, with Indy's son. I mean, I hope that he doesn't trivialize the events in the film in order to focus on Indy reuniting with his son, kind of like how he trivialized the Martian invasion in War of the Worlds by turning it into the story of a divorced family and a dad that learns to grow up.My brother and I have each actually concocted a potential plot/series of predictable events for the film, and if one of us has his sequence used, then he'll be the winner of something, I don't know. Please, please, let the music be cool....
Exactly. I was surprised that they did not release the scores then. Not releasing them around Indy IV won't surprise me now.
IF they do, they'll probably not release them until the Christmas season of 2008, long after the new movie is already out on dvd!

In one of the videos on indianajones.com, Spielberg states that shot for shot, this movie is 100% for the fans, and not for himself.

Indiana Jones has already been "family-ized". Didn't you see Last Crusade?

And you completely missed the point of WotW. The movie was primarily about a father's relationship with his family and the desire to protect them form the world. The aliens (they're clearly not from Mars, so they're not Martians) are simply the device that motivates the characters. Unlike most other alien/disaster movies, Spielberg managed to tell a story about the effects of a global disaster on people we can identify with (or at lest recognise) rather than gung-ho action heroes or army generals. To focus on the aliens would have been trivializing the main characters - there'd be no point in having any.

It was a nice score. But the synth cues killed it. And not making an official release also did.

Have no fear, the complete 2 hour score to the Indy 4 videogame(no Williams music) should be available on itunes as soon as the game is released

As cheap as Lucasarts has gotten I have a hard time seeing them forking out for an A-list game composer when there's 2 hours of new Williams stuff just begging to be tracked in on the cheap. Good for us who want access to unreleased cues, bad for fans of good game music.

And hell, I'm both of those. :)

That would be awesome, but LucasArts doesn't do soundtrack releases anymore.
