PoA, IMO, is the best score ever written for any film. One of its most popular themes is "Double Trouble." That cue is featured in many other cues throughout the soundtrack, so my question is: which rendition is the best?

1. Secrets of the Castle

2. Mischeif Managed

3. Double Trouble

4. Hagrid the Professor

5. The Portrait Gallery

6. Quidditch, Third Year

*If you pick Mischeif Managed, it MUST be for the rendition heard in :36 - 2:45, not the recording heard later.

Well, the song itself is "best" in the sense that it is the basis for other renditions, but the end title is awesome. Full version, of course.

Indeed it is. I've never been a huge fan of the song version, I prefer the orchestral only statements.

Dumbledore's Speech

Yes, I really wish that were released, along w/ Pettigrew's theme. I would take a PoA complete score over complete prequel scores anyday.

Yeah, Mischief Managed! is also my pick. Simply fantastic, vintage JW. What makes it so great is, IMHO, not the melody (or not ONLY the melody) but the unbelievable orchestration. How can one person come up with all these details? you ask yourself.

Secrets of the Castle is my second choice--the spooky rendition (is that a bassoon? or bass clarinet?) is chillingly fitting.

It isn't, sadly.I can think of about 50 to 100 scores of the top of my head that are better.

Mischief Managed FILM VERSION,the best part beeing cut out of the OST for some reason

They cut out that piece to make room for the repeats later in that track.

"Mischief Managed!" Fantastic presentation of the theme, which was expanded into the longer concert version.

Same here! I love the celeste rendition in the first part of the track (and the cameo from Hedwig's Theme), but that bassoon line is truly brilliant with the visuals.

I prefer the trailer version, which i hope and pray is actually released on an album before I die.

Just saw the trailer again on YouTube. I had forgotten how great it was! I love the different Double Trouble arrangement, it almost sounds more sinister, and yet more fun at the same time. All in all, a very creative and unique trailer.

That trailer was amazing to see when it first came out. The new visual style Cuaron brought to the table was a real surprise, and the speculation about the music was so much fun. Then finding out for sure it was Williams'...what a great time that was!
