indy4 152
Goblet of Fire is my least favorite Harry Potter score, but I keep coming back to it, and I keep finding new pleasures with it. The latests one was during "Voldemort." At about 8:50, there is a beautiful, breathtaking theme played by the orchestra. What a beautiful piece. Shame is was so short. Ray Barnsbury 8
It's a good moment in the score, for sure. I can't help but imagine what "A Window to the Past" could've done for the scene, but Doyle's music at that point was certainly appropriate and effective.Ray Barnsbury
indy4 152
*shrug* I never thought Window to the Past was that great. I mean, is it enjoyable, yes, is it good, yes, but I would take Buckbeak's Flight or Double Trouble anyday over Window.

But you should give the score a few more listens. It's still the worst Potter, but it is still good. And I think Window isn't JW's strongest piece. CheValier de Sangreal beats it by a longshot, IMO. JW still has other pieces that kick them both to the curb, however.

BLUMENKOHL 1,064
You did not just insult my Window to the Past. Liking Hans Zimmer. One thing. Hell liking Hans Zimmer more than Williams or Goldsmith is one thing. But Saying Chevaliers is better than Window....?That's just stupid. It's among the best pieces of music in the last century. Ray Barnsbury 8
"Chevaliers" is great and all, in a typically generic Zimmer-ish way. But yeah, "Window" is divine.Ray Barnsbury
Red 73
"Window to the Past" is probably my favorite Potter theme outside of "Hedwig's Theme".Though, as I've mentioned before, it quite a few structural similarities to "The Face of Pan". Ray Barnsbury 8
In a way. It's a more straightforward theme though, and definitely has more of an English/Celtic sound.Ray Barnsbury
Richard Penna 2,082
I never did really get Chevaliers myself - I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd love to have heard JW's approach to it.
BLUMENKOHL 1,064
"The Face of Pan".Ruined by being overdone with too much unnecessary garbage crowding the track.Window to the Past is raw emotional power, and yet it is three different songs in one, depending on what YOU the listener bring to it. It is art in the purest form. The Face of Pan is an excercise in embellishing an otherwise good piece of music.

Red 73
It's still structurally similar, and "Pan" is definitely the more simplistic piece.
Morlock 9
My favorite thing about 'Window' is how long JW waits before bringing in the strings. It's most beautiful on solo woodwind.
