Does anybody here listen to the alternate John Williams?

I was downloading the HA2 DE onto iTunes, and the iTunes artwork had a CD called:

John Williams:

Hand Picked/Long Ride Home

After realising that this was not our JW(I went to a website at the bottom of the CD: http://www.halcyon.com/jwms/default.htm ), I decided to see if anyone here was familiar with his work.

I saw a bit of the fake (;))John Williams (the guatarist) when searching for JW products online. He's got me into thinking JW would be having a concert near where I live, only to be dissapointed when I find out it's the fake one. I was just wondering if anybody's ever heard his music.

Wait, you mean this is the forum for that other John Williams guy, the one who DOESN'T play guitar? Whoa, I'm totally in the wrong place...

;)

Seriously, I haven't listened to any of his stuff. I don't have anything against the guy, though I'm sure I'd be disappointed by comparison. ;)

I've not listened but I've almost downloaded certain things by him. I've been looking around long enough to recognize them when I see them but at first I didn't...

There's also a painter I found out... I found a couple paintings by him on Ebay that were rather nice...

but I've never listened to the guitarist, no...

Actually... I heard some of his stuff if I remember right. It was nothing too remarkable... at least what little I heard and didn't even remember until just now lol

Yes - I have a couple of his albums as I had to study The Concerto de Orange Juice for Music at school......and ended up with a few other bits.....he's worth having a listen to - but you will not be converted if you don't already like that kind of music. For a sampler, track down one of his recording of Albinez' "Asturias".

I deeply admire the work of John (Christopher) Williams, the aclaimed classical guitarist -- not the one from the link posted.

I did atended a concert of him a few years back and he was simply amazing. A really great musician.

There are too many John Williamses to list... there is a jazz bass player, a jazz pianist from the same generation who even played with some of the same musicians (John Thomas Williams), the mentioned painter, a US senator, Williams own father (John F. Williams), a basketball player... It never ends...

I say for the Hollywood Bowl or with the Pops, John Williams *the guitarist* should play "Avner's Theme" from Munich conducted by our John Williams. hehe ;)

If the two Williams' ever met I foresee two possibilities: One, coming face to face with each other would put them into shock and they would simply pass out. Or two, the encounter could create a paradox, the results of which could start a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that's a worse case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to our own galaxy.

No, I don't listen to Michael Giapoopy!

You know, its been ages since someone claimed that.

But coming from you...it seems we were not that wrong after all ;)

Yes I listen to Patrick Doyle's Great Expectations featuring John Williams very often.

It's very odd how so many unique people have the English languages:

1. Single most common first name

and

2. Single most common last name.

TOGETHER!

For a bit of 70s-style prog-rock-lite you could do a lot worse than listen to John Williams' band "Sky". Their 5th album (Five Live) is an excellent place to start. The whole band is very adept, especially Herbie Flowers on bass.

plus, an American Idol contestant, 2 email conmen, the Washington DC sniper...

That really made me laugh. Thank you for that.

I have The Deer Hunter by Stanley Myers. John Williams guitarist worked on it, it was quite pleasant and nice.

Is there anything to it other than 'Cavatina'?

I find classical guitar to all-to-often be listenable and nice and polite...but rarely has enough true zest. I love some of Tommy Immanuel's stuff.
