I don't care what anyone thinks of me, but I'm going to say this:

I LOVE HANS ZIMMER'S MUSIC AS MUCH AS JOHN WILLIAMS!

PS - I'm not joking.

Well everyone has their favourites.

John Williams is pretty superior in terms actually writing the music, but I find some of Hans Zimmer's POTC themes just as memorable and enjoyable as any of Williams'.

I also love the theme from "up is down" - even though it sounds like a rip-off of the golden age swashbuckling scores.

It's certainly a nice theme. It has a mature, melancholy quality that complements the sadness of the film well. It's still child's play compared to any piece by a great composer, though, and it can really wear on you. I listened to "Marry Me" today. Eleven minutes of that theme over and over, which is ten minutes too many.

The love/main theme is not the 'Up Is Down' jig.

But the cue "Up is Down" contains a lot of variations on the main theme starting at 0:33, again at 1:00, and again at 1:37, and finally at 2:08.

I'm not doubting that Drop Zone was used in one of the trailers, but it's a popular trailer cue. So what's the point of mentioning that?

Because it's practically the exact same theme. The demo track for the first movie is even more similar. Why deny the obvious connection?

The Theme from Drop Zone IS in all three films. Not a similar theme. The Exact same cue. Listen to the last minute of "I don't think now is the best time" from world's end. I think it's on one of the final tracks of the first one, too. Maybe only on the bootleg. Can't remember where it is in the second one.

In the trailer, it's OK , but to use it in the actual film - note for note - is just plain lazy. It kills me.
