Ollie 859
Choose your favorite Goldsmith sports score. Both are based on true stories.Personally I picked Hoosiers. The synth dominated score actually works for a film set in the 50's. When I listen to the score it has that basketball feel to it. Plus Hoosiers is a much better film with a solid cast featuring Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper.Rudy's theme is a lovely piece composed by Goldsmith but the hilight is the "The Final Game" cue. King Mark 2,924
Rudyi can't stand the score to Hoosiers. It stands for everything that became wrong with Goldsmith in the mid 80'sk.M.
Morlock 9
I like Hoosiers theme more, but the tryout theme from Rudy is also great fun, and it's got that lovely main them. Rudy wins by points.
mahler3 353
I love Best Shot (film isn't bad either) - it's one of the few electronic scores I really like, even though the combination of orchestra is quite pronounced in most places. Lovely themes and the rhythm structure of 3/7 is just genius!Rudy is a very close second.I gather from your statement that you do not like Legend, Lionheart or errr Rent-A-Cop KM? Ray Barnsbury 8
Rudy. The main theme is nice, but the "Tryouts" theme, in all its varied incarnations throughout the score, is a real gem.Ray Barnsbury
Jeshopk 8
Rudy, hands down! Crikey. I would have thought Rudy would be the obvious winner. I can't stand that damn drum machine in Hoosiers.

Ollie 859
Well I guess that cancels out everything else I had in mind, like best Biblical epic score or Elmer Bernstein's best western score. You may now return to your normal discussions.
