indy4 152
Spielberg was planning on directing a James Bond film, before he heard Lucas's idea of "Indiana Smith." What would do you think it would have been like if we had a Spielbergian James Bond film, and a Williams Bond score, and would you have prefered it over Indiana Jones? For me, the choice if obvious. I would rather have Indiana Jones by SS than a James Bond by SS, for several reasons. For film, Indy gave birth to one of the best film series of all time. James Bond was already existing, so it's not like we lost anything big in the long run. For score, several reasons. One, the Indy series have some of the best music ever, not many films would make me give that up. Also, the Bond theme was already existing, so I don't think there would be any big iconic work for JW there, and a lot of it would just be adapting the JB theme. #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,251
Would have been interesting to see, but I'm glad he did Raiders. At what year was Spielberg considered for a Bond film? Could we have had a Spielberg directed Moonraker?
Ollie 859
He wasn't planning on directing one, he was interested in directing one, which means he hadn't been asked.I would imagine he would have had some restrictions placed on him by the producers, but it may have been interesting.Raiders might give you a slight idea as to what one might expect. Koray Savas 2,095
I would rather have a Tony Scott directed Bond film, which would have a Harry Gregson-Williams Bond score. I believe he was one of many considered for Bond 22, but he wasn't picked.
Ray Barnsbury 8
Weren't they going to stick with David Arnold, regardless of the director?
Koray Savas 2,095
I'm not sure, I just though they only wanted British directors and composers, and Harry would have fit that bill. I have no doubt Arnold will compose 22 though.

gkgyver 1,638
Bond with tux and PP7 stealing an idol from a rotten mayan temple in the jungle of Mexico? Don't think so.
Jeshopk 8
I think it would have been very Bond, but with better cinematography and tenser action. Maybe a bit better humor as well. When you see how Spielberg constructed his sequences in the early 80's, you can see the difference with the Bond films of the time.

pixie_twinkle 44
If Spielberg directed a Bond movie it would be a kick-ass excitement/action fest for the first 2 hours. Then at the end Bond's dead wife Tracy would show up. It's ok folks, she didn't die at the end of OHMSS after all! Then there would be a horribly sentimental reunion. Jeshopk 8
What the hell is your avatar trying to suggest? It's a parody of the idea some people have of a JW 'fanboy' - as if thinking he is always a great composer makes you blindly devoted. Ollie 859
I believe David Arnold has the job of scoring Bond films for as long as he wants it. Apparently the producers are very happy with his work.So unless they decide to make a change or Arnold decides he doesn't want to score anymore films, I'd say you'll see his name attached to the franchise for quite awhile.
