Ollie 1,059
Alien is far more interesting then Family Plot.I wouldn't even name them in the same sentence....because Family Plot absolutley ANNIHILATES the other one.
King Mark 3,631
I'd want Family Plot more than Black Sunday when unreleased williams is concerned. .Family Plot is not a great listen from start to finish, but it contains some of Williams most beautiful unreleased cues...the whole Main Title/The Sceance...what I'd give to hear that cue in remastered stereo sound.K.M. King Mark 3,631
I've listened to the boot a few times.I find pretty much the best parts are on the Silva suite. The rest is a lot of cold suspence cues.K.M.

The thing is, that style, that sound, is incredibly unique, it's not something you'd hear in most film scores. Then there's also the choir stuff, the action cue (the car scene), the adamson montage, and more... Such a great soundtrack, it really really is a shame it was never released. Who knows, mabye McNeely will do it. I know he's supposed to be Herrmann's main man, but through that he's become the main HItchcock score man.

King Mark 3,631
I dunno, the mysterious appearance of the boot 30 years after the movie is released with meticulously archived track titles.Seems someone is working on something and gave it to someone else who put it on the web. It's not like leaking new recording sessions...someone had to go deep into the Universal archives and find that stuff. artyjeffrey 20
Getting Family Plot would've been nice. But I can certainly recall the numerous times we've lamented there not being a full release (or even an in-print release) of ALIEN. It's one of those scores that about 85% of us have longed for, myself included, and I'm happy. Just think... to finally put away the hissy homemade bootleg and my old vinyl.......And hopefully, there'll be no bronzing on this release.....And who knows? Family Plot might just be right around the corner. I'm still mystified about the origins of that boot that came to the surface a few months ago.I have a lot more confidence Family Plot will be released soon than the indiana Jones or Star Wars Prequels scoresI have this sad feeling that you're correct. Lucasfilm has a way of bungling key opportunities to properly release stuff. To release some kind of expanded box set of the Indy scores to coincide with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull would make too much sense. There'll be a porno probably released to coincide with Indy IV's release ( maybe Condom of the Crystal Skull or something like that) before Lucasfilm would release a nice box set. King Mark 3,631
There's pretty much a boot of every of those Goldsmith scores Intrada and Varese are releasing, including Alien.Besides ,it was 80kbps MP3's.So no,I don't see why in this case it suddenly makes a difference.and I didn't put that on the internet. fommes 153
And do you people realize by passing the boot around and publicizing it that it may have damaged the chances for this score being released legitimately?I don't think this reasoning applies here. Do you see the Universal or so producers coming to JWFan and say, hey, there's five guys here who have an illegal bootleg; let's not produce this album after all, because I'm sure those guys won't buy an official album anymore now. Ollie 1,059
I'm not accusing anyone here of leaking it but the it's been pointed out by producers who actually do this that bootlegs can impact a studio's decision. In fact I believe it's been mentioned before that bootlegs have cancelled several planned releases in the past. It's one of the reasons they don't leak the releases ahead of time. Robert Townson from Varese mentioned once that many things can change once a release is planned. I think he mentioned that deals have fallen thru in the past. King Mark 3,631
In theory, that's not impossible.but it's also a good excuse to shut everyone up and start sensoring posts.
Ollie 1,059
I'm not talking about censoring posts. But that's one of the reasons FSM, Intrada and a couple of other soundtrack message boards don't allow bootleg talk because it can damage the chances of releasing scores. That's why I've suggested in the past that people somewhat refrain from bragging and talking about all the "boots" they have.I'm not claiming to be innocent, we're all guilty of doing it but it might be in the best interest to not announce to the world that you have it.By the way the sound on A L I E N is pretty damn good. Very well done and the CD notes are lengthy. Nothing really new is shed as far as I can tell as to what happaned on the film although I still get a chuckle out of Goldsmith's comments about screening the film by himself in the projection room and having the sh*t scared out of him. It's funnier to watch it on the DVD supplement material where he says it during the interview.

Maglorfin 196
This is definitely one of the most MAGNIFICENT soundtrack releases of all time. It's an absolute must-have and I'm not ashamed to confess I've became somewhat addicted to it. In fact, I think I'll go so far as to order another copy just in case anything happens to the first one (as I've already done with some of my other favourite albums, e. g. Miles Davis's Kind of Blue or Dream Theater's Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory).
