They occasionally break, and when the case is not replaceable it's annoying

Like my CE3K Collector's Edition some teeth are broken and the c.d. doesn't hold properly

i had to exchange Jaws Collectors Edition 2 times and still has a broken case

I agree I don't like the cases that Jaws and CE3K came in but the other ones can easily be replaced.

I guess by only allowing myself to touch my CDs they stay in better shape. :P

After importing to itunes, I keep all my cds in a large portable cd holder (so larger that it is not really portable) and then shelve the cases, only pulling them out when I want to look at the cover artwork, or anything that might be included in that.

But then, I only have 2517 tracks in itunes, which I expect is considerably less than many here.

I have 22814 tracks, 68.2 days so yeah :P

To be honest I try to avoid putting my CDs in any portable CD holders that involve slip-cases. No matter how well-made they are and how carefully you slip the CDs in and out you invariably get scratch marks on the CD surface over time.

:blink: I only have 3153 and 7.1 days of music!! (plus Swashbuckler and Matilda).

Time to put you both out of your misery. :P

Spread across all five of my iPod's I have 312, 761 files totaling at 1,641 days to listen to them all in total. bowdown

I have two battery backups per iPod, and I'll probably get more in the future. So I'm set, anything to avoid disturbing my CD's.

Now, I just have to ask this question:

How can you possibly listen to that much music? Not that I'm criticizing; sounds like a killer collection. I just wonder if there isn't tons of stuff that you've never listened to, and probably never will.

When you start getting too much stuff,a lot of scores get listened to once then forgotten.

i'd like to make a compilation of cues I liked after listening to something, but i keep forgetting how to make on the fly playlists on my ipod

Oh, he's listened to everything, and can probably find an exact note of something if asked.

On the Superman 1 set, they BETTER NOT have put the NARRATED Margot Kidder version of The Flying Sequrence .that would totally ruin it right there

On Superman 4 ,I saw the movie once back when it was released and maybe once on TV,but there was ONE cue i thought was AMAZING, and it's the Section B of the main theme arrangement in "United Nations" ...I just it heard the sound clip at SAE

I kept looking for it in those poor Superman 4 bootlegs but never found it and was beginning to think I imagined it.I think it was also cut out of the TV version

Since that's how it's SUPPOSED to be heard, I'm going to consider it ruined if it isn't on there.

The more I hear about the music for Superman IV, the more I am looking forward to having it to listen to. Sounds like something of a lost gem.

Superman should have the same content as the Rhino release, they just changed some of the track titles.

There is another change, apparently the version of the Superman march that plays over the end credits was actually meant to go over the opening credits and the version used is actually the end credits. I thought something sounded different when I listened to the cues on SAE's site.

Oh I'm an avid listener, trust me on that.

Films, along with the Scores and Soundtracks which accompaniment them are my life.

I don't work, or need to, I'm very wealthy, I'm single, happy, live alone on a splendid spread of land that I myself own, isolated in the middle of nowhere with a beautiful view and have no priorities in my life, neither do I ever wish to have any.

Hope that answers your question.

alternate title march-Rhino disk 1 track 17...this better be on the box set.

Well, according to the breakdown over at Superman Cinema, it doesn't appear to be on there.

Can you post a link?

Geez if people are really being so picky about one or two alternate cues missing will bbe from this set because the Rhino set doesn't have it...then don't get it, holy cow.

There's a "Can You Read My Mind" film version on disc 2 as a bonus track and "Flying Sequence" album version on disc 8, so it would seem the "Flying Sequence" on disc 1 in the body of the score is without the vocal.

There are also two version of "The Prison Yard/End Title". The second one is marked 'film version' so the other one is probably the original version which was on the OST, and which was the version at the end of disc 1 on the Rhino.

I checked. It's on there, it's the End Title.

ok ,that makes sense

And Vosk that alternate is the most energetic version of the march

Great interview. All in the in-depth discussion about the creation of the set is pretty exciting.

Incidentally, I think the sequencing decision on the first disc (1. Theme from Superman, 2. Prelude and Main Title) is dubious from a listening perspective, but in these days of iTunes, it's hardly relevant. (Speaking of which, it'll be fun to re-sequence the albums in iTunes to include source music.)

Gah! Silva did that on the Supergirl expanded edition by opening it with the "Overture" which was really a re-orchestrated version of the end credits, then the "Main Title".

Yeah, very nice interview indeed. I really do hope a healthy amount of the spotting sessions info is included in the booklet.

I cannot wait for this set to arrive!

I have to say, that interview makes me WAY more stoked to hear Superman II than I would have thought possible (thanks to my general distaste for the movie).

This boxset can't get here quickly enough.

I'm also going to go ahead and start dreaming of . . .

a 20-disc Star Trek movies box set

and

a 14-disc "James Bond 1962-1971" box set

and

an 18-disc "James Bond 1973-1989" box set

and unfortunately I'll have to just keep dreaming about those.

Yeah, that would've been fantastic, but I seriously doubt it's going to happen anytime soon, after these 2003 remastered and/or expanded 007 soundtracks ... ;)

Nah, it'll never happen, but if it does, that's money flyin' outta my account quicker than is sensible.

I still don't have all of those remastered 007 CDs. I bought all the ones that have extra music, and I love them all; but some of the others haven't made the cut yet. (Moonraker and The Spy Who Loved Me and A View to a Kill are the ones I'm missing, I think. And I still haven't bought Casino Royale '06! What the...?!?)

I'd just love to see the Bond music treated with the incredible care that Matessino and company have obviously taken with the Superman music. Some of those Bond scores are genuine cultural landmarks, and I don't think they've ever been given their proper due.

But yes, obviously, it's just a dream.

Beautifully written. But then, dreams do come true from time to time ... :)

This set is really going to spoil us isn't it?

Yes indeed! ;)

We're spoiled already. As relatively unpopular as film music is, retail-wise, it's something of a minor miracle that a Superman box set could, would, or should ever happen at all. Which is one of the several reasons why I knew I had to buy it as soon as I heard about it. I don't have a great deal of money to set aside for soundtracks, and I try to spend at least some of it on things that seem as if they'll have a positive impact on that niche industry side of it. That way, it's more likely that such releases will continue to happen and not fade into memory.

I'd buy everything FSM and Varse and Intrada put out, if I could justify it monetarily. Sadly, I can't.

And that's why you don't get a f---ing English degree!

That was a good interview to read. At least they would like to release a complete score for Hook and the Jurassic Park scores...I hope in time they manage to get that accomplished.

yep that was great hope.

Good interview

That makes two of us ... :( But well, I'm doing my best, and, undoubtedly, so are you. :) As Ovidius once wrote: Ut desint vires, tamen est laudanda voluntas! ;) Anyway, I knew I had to have the Superman box as soon as I first heard of it, regardless of the price. :P

The only scores I would do that for would be Family Plot, Indiana Jones, and the Star Wars Prequels
