I thought people on this board thought signing petitions were pointless. I thought ya'll said it would not do any good. Today I see that on the main page links to three different petition sites for Indiana Jones. Are they still pointless or have people changed there minds.

They don't always work, but they certainly are not pointless. The recent Transformers petition worked quite well.

I didnt know they had a Trnsformers petition. Was it about making it into a movie?

I wasn't aware of a Transformers petition. Jablonsky said he always planned to release the score, but since it didn't happen with the release of the film it would have happened with the DVD. I think people started petitions anyway, and it was released midway. The rumor of the release of a 2CD set based on the OST sales has been going around, but nothing is official. It's probable, considering everything on the OST is a different version than in the film, allowing a lot of room for Film Versions and Alternates if a complete set is ever released.

I know petitions made Family Guy the first show ever to return from being canceled, so they definitely aren't pointless, even though I voted them as so.

How can the names and email addresses be verified?

It strikes me that 10,000 names on an online petition could be the work of ten individuals.

If one person can sign it twice, it invalidates the whole thing.

Nope, that would be DVD sales.

They may not work so well, but for something that takes so little effort (just the click of a mouse and the press of some keys), why wouldn't you sign it, just in case?!

Well that too, but the enormous fan requests to bring back the show definitely helped.

Exactly. If it's something you want to happen, then it certainly won't hurt to at least try.

It checks for IP addresses. That could be gotten around as well, but most people don't know how.

Thanks, I didn't know they checked for ips. And yes, easily gotten around, but I guess we should also keep in mind how unlikely it is that a lot of people would do that.

But that raises another, admittedly small problem, what if my whole family wants to sign, must they all find seperate computers?

And I guess my reservations about online petitions would also apply to petitions signed in person.. does anyone ever check?

And what a waste of time that would be.

I did sign one of them by the way. I'm not sure why there are 3 though, are they by the same guy?

Another point is that with scores as popular as these, of course the studios and record producers know that this is what Williams and many film score fans want. It just seems to be stating the obvious.

Yeah, one can totally imagine the FOX executive looking at the Family Guy DVD sales figures, not sure of what to make of the money the series was bringing, and then finding an on-line petition and going, "aaaw, they're so right".

I believe the ratings on Cartoon Network also played a factor in Family Guy coming back.

Sometimes petitions work and sometimes they don't. It's not gonna hurt anything to fill one out if you feel like it.

The single wisest thing I've read on the board this week! :)

Family Guy was on Cartoon Network? Isn't that a kids station???

It still is on CN, after 10:00 pm eastern time there are toons and shows geared toward adults. It's called Adult Swim.

I've heard parts of the complete Transformers prom, and to my ears there's nothing, absolutely nothing outside the OST that needs expansion. If the film was called Big Explosions IV, there probably wouldn't even have been a score release.

I don't understand why crappy scores get the complete treatment (close to the release of the film, I might add), while Williams gems are ignored. It's just not fair.

I guess it's all about money (and whats popular).

Oh, okay.

Wait...I thought they play Pee Wee's Playhouse on Adult Swim??

Yes, and that was a big factor in Futurama coming back too.

What's more pointless, an online petition or a JWFan poll?

Hehe. You beat me to it.

I'll let you make the poll, then.

Cartoon Network has hardly been a great station ever since all the classic shows have been canceled. Adult Swim is probably the only reason why anyone tunes in.

Adult Swim is hardly adult, considering that they do show Pee Wee's Playhouse. and yes, I've watched it at like 1am when I've got nothing better to do. It's more teenage based, as the warnings used to state parents may not find material suitable for children under 14. The only reason I watch is for Family Guy and Futurama, and I'm thankful that it led me to discover one of the funniest shows ever: Home Movies.

I've seen parts, and it's funny. But I never know when it's on. I hate how Adult Swim has an ever-changing schedule. Home Movies was only on at like 1am on Sundays. I'm glad I somehow discovered it, because I would always be asleep at that hour cause of school on Monday. I probably had a day off and saw the "Brendon Gets Rabies" episode and absolutely fell in love with it. After that first viewing I saw it only one other time. Then a few years later I saw the DVD's at Best Buy and got them. I love that show.

It's on at 11:00pm Central on Sunday nights.

It's on reruns, don't know when season 3 starts. I enjoy this show so much that I bought the DVD sets for seasons 1 & 2.
