GoodMusician 56
You know, I've noticed something about the music that plays when a certain character from the Adult Swim cartoon (inspired by an actual cartoon) called "The Boondocks," is in a scene. The music is played by a synth tuba and sounds like... a variant of Jabba the Hutts theme. You can hear it at 10:30 and 12:07 in this video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zPH-riIv0&feature=bz301Its kinda hard not to see the similarities...(and while you're at it, the whole episode is HI-Larious!) Genius_Gone_Insane 5
Wow that is funny! And I think there's no question that's a Jabba reference.BTW I think the Boondocks creator is from Oakland or somewhere in the Bay Area...
Taikomochi 1,136
oh, i noticed that a while ago. it's uncle ruckus's theme, and they must've been comparing him to Jabba.
GoodMusician 56
not entirely inappropriate to use the theme... but at the same time it's a little... disingenuous lol
Ollie 1,059
In the comic strips I believe the characters have made mention of John Williams several times.
GoodMusician 56
perhaps it was a purposeful choice then lol...kinda nifty
aj_vader 533
i've always felt ive heard hints of Jabba's Theme in the villians theme from Home Alone, especially the version for Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Quintus 5,399
It's the same frickin tune!TGE - Who reckons Jabba's theme is easily the hardest listen in the entire Star Wars saga. Still sheer scoring class though.
GoodMusician 56
So apparently the usage of pre-composed music seems to be intentional.I was watching this episode which obviously uses the theme from the exorcist as its inspirationhttp://youtube.com/watch?v=XLsC4QEB26w&feature=bz303
