I'm so sick of that music by now, as they seem to have been running those ads for years without reprieve. And yeah, it's nice enough, but it's pretty much just standard MV.

I find it pretty sickening, myself. A new commercial features the theme on a violin (for a particularly "touching" moment).

The commercials are fairly annoying, as is the theme. Although, when it's played on the violin it's somewhat tolerable.

Well a fiddle worked for the Rohirrim charging to their deaths. What's the difference huh?

I'm not sure I can answer that without infringing on the Board's rules regarding politics. But I think there is a huge difference.

If there is one thing that the MV style was made for, it is without a doubt the modern military. It is one case where I seriously can't find fault with its use.

It's what it was built for in Crimson Tide.

And no Backdraft doesn't count, because it sounds distinctly different than the MV sound.

:)

The "Army Strong" theme was composed by Mark Isham, not by any of the MV mill composers.

There have been at least two short threads over at the FSM board discussing this music:

Link to thread #1 (with additional audio/video links)

Link to thread #2

And here's an article titled "The Making of Army Strong" which features a bit about the music: LINK.

I couldn't agree more. I think it works great here:

It's actually composed by none other than Mark Mancina.

Not the "Army Strong" theme that's played in the video linked to in the first message of this thread.

That's by the other Mark, Mark Isham.
