It's great, but it is one of the most overplayed pieces of music I have ever seen. Even the best music can become tiresome.

The link Blumenkohl provided features a much better piece to judge it by. Listening to the first link one could say the piece totally sucks.

Although listening to the second one doesn't improve it by much, a boring bland piece of music that fits today's sad state of film scoring.

I think this piece is up there with some of John Williams' scores. I am convinced though that someone like Clint Mansell didn't come with it, isn't it originally from Mozart?

pfff...that is almost signature quotable

Just like Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

Mostly only with Star Wars.

They are both leagues ahead of "Requiem" anyway.

It's not even in the ballpark with the greats.

Saying it's not good isn't a reason. Put some musical insight into it. Forget the Requiem For A Tower remix or the Summer Overture, but rather the Lux Aeterna piece, without all the synth.

I think the entire score to Requiem For A Dream is superb. I wrote an entire book off that score. Another reason why I don't want to see the movie, it'll ruin my perception of it.

BTW, by write an entire book, I meant write half of a great story with bad dialogue and didn't like where I went with it so I made up a fake ending and never touched it again. But no worries, it's in the vault, I'll make it proper one day.

It may have suited the film, but musically it's almost completely uninteresting. It's the same boring chords and beat repeated through the whole piece, with other layers added on occasionally, like what anyone could do with Soundtrack Pro.

That damn trailer remix is NOT the theme! It's a piece of crap that loses all the context of the original for epic boom boom.

My bad for getting the title wrong. But the remix IS the better version, it's a much more exciting listen than the yawn-fest that is the orginal.

I still don't like this piece or the score and probably never will. I think the film is a good one but the music outside its context leaves me cold.

"The Battle for Media Ventures is about to begin"

I think the piece works well when it's used (top gear polar special, Two Towers trailer etc) but doesn't work so well for me as a standalone listen. As Ray said, it's just the same chords over and over again.

Doesn't suck though IMO.
