$100? I thought it was $40.

That $40 deal was something another website had posted, I don't remember which one. It was a mistake as they took it down right away after Craig at SAE contacted the site since he was affiliated with that particular website.

Everyone has the Blue Box but me.

I don't.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that $40 mistake deal. Good thing it happened while I was on vacation, otherwise I might have gone for it too.

I'll prob try to find it elsewhere, perhaps check out Amazon Marketplace. I'm not paying $120 for 1 score.

Nope, they just have a listing directed towards SAE's site. There's 1 being sold, signed by Ken Thorne and Ron Jones, but it's $225.

Considering I'm only interested in 1 score in that set, it's not worth the investment. I'll probably get it eventually, but not anytime soon. I'd much rather spend that $120 on a bunch of other scores, ones I know I'll like.

I don't have it either. I'd love to have the remastered score to the first movie, and I'm interested in the IV score, but not interested enough to drop that much money. Unfortunately it's not the kind of thing I'll find on Ebay or Amazon used.

Very nice. Why do you have the FOTR DVD twice?

I'll have to post an update soon, now that I have a better camera... and now that my shelves are pretty much completely full.

Just checked out your c.d. collection, Marian: nice! Plenty of Williams, and even "Alien 3", a score that not many people that know have, let alone like. Slight absence of the Blue Box, though...

I bought The Blue Box but don't listen to it all that much. I'm all Supermanned out after one score that I can't listen to another one right away. It's excellent, of course, (except for the one terrible and jarring edit in Destruction of Krypton) but the "yinz guyz gotta buy da Blue Box now or youz ain't shit" mentality is really getting tiresome.

Everyone has the Blue Box but me.

And me. I'd love to have a good-sounding Superman, but it's just not that great a score to spend that much money on.

Haha I just bought the blue box from ebay last week. It's amazing. Sound quality for the 1st between FSM and Rhino is obvious. I've especially been enjoying Superman IV.

It's packaged so well too. The book (not gonna call it a booklet) is amazing. So really the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. If you can set aside a little and save up for it, it is worth it, even as a collectible that's just nice to own.

I still regret getting it.. Inever did like Superman per se, nor am I a great fan of the score. The rest of the box does not touch me atall.

I don't get why people embrace Superman IV that much

Shipping to me is cheaper....

I still say that Williams' score has a few of his very best cues ever. They just all are from the first third of the whole thing.

Sandy Courage was even better than Williams.

I didn't regret buying the blue box although i wasn't familiar with the superman films at all. In fact i never even watched a superman movie (till today) and only listened to the scores included in the blue box :joy:. Besides Williams Superman 1 i enjoyed superman IV greatly and also the various source and pop tracks were interesting.

One of the big reasons i bought the box was the over 100 pages book. The behind the scenes infos, analyses and interviews were a great read. Although the book's binding is bad and after four or five read throughs the whole thing fell together...

I contacted FSM then and they replied that they know the problem with the bindings and sent me a knew one...that's customer service :P So support FSM folks

Marian and Maglorfin - Very impressive... Where do you buy a big ol' set of shelves like that?

I had to have it custom-made per my own specifications, I just put the whole thing on the paper and took it to some cabinetmaker who was prepared to do it for me (and he was not at all easy to find! :o). There's space for approx. 1.400 CDs on the shelves, and 1.000 places are already taken ...

Otherwise it seems you just can't buy nice and big CD shelves like that (at least not here in Slovenia), the largest I've seen being sold in furniture stores are like for 100 or 200 CDs. Pathetic. :)

Some of the pictures posted here are really impressive - to say the least - and will make my collection look quite modest, but here it is... enjoy the shots taken with my new digital camera!

Actually, I was lucky to get a copy for a fair price on Marketplace last year. Plus I could catch some other OOP/rare titles on eBay last year too (King of Kings, Hush, Dracula or The Legend of Bagger Vance, to name a few).

Because it's falling apart.

Yes, I need to get a Williams autograph. May can't come soon enough.

I was thinking the Superman box set spine with silver sharpie. I attempted that one at Tanglewood. I nearly got Home Alone 2 booklet at Film Night 2008, but security rushed him to his car as soon as he was getting to me.

Can't remember if I ever participated in this thread, but here's a picture of the whole thing:

those are fake.

i see several expanded scores....

:)

I've actually owned quite a few expansions over the years, but from the picture above, I can see that I have since sold the three "book" STAR WARSes from RCA, being content with the Arista box CD's.
