Scores you've heard, but...

Recommended Posts

Just curious to know how many scores you've heard, where you haven't seen the movie it was written for. I can only think of a few things:

"The Adventures of Don Juan" - Max Steiner

"The Adventures of Mark Twain" - Max Steiner

"Cinema Paradio" - Ennio Morriconne

"The Witches of Eastwick" - Williams

"Robin Hood" - Ernest Korngold

"The Sugarland Express" - Williams

"Empire of the Sun" - Williams

That's all I can think of now.

Currently Williams is the only composer that I've bought blindly, with having seen the movie at all, so my list is pretty short.

Marc, where did you get any of Superman: The Animated Series?

-Ben, halfway being a smart alleck as Marc is likely referring to the Ruby-Spears cartoon, not the 90's WB cartoon.

Smartass. :)

Obviously, I was referring to the Ruby-Spears cartoon.

I've just grown used to referring to them as TAS, since "animated series" is all over the Blue Box.

Well not counting the video game scores I have there probably isn't much that I haven't seen. I'm pretty sure I've seen most of the films scored by Williams. Conrack, Fitzwilly and The Long Goodbye are 3 I haven't seen. Also haven't seen a few of his obscure TV movies.

I've probably seen about 75-80% of the films scored by Goldsmith. some of the ones I haven't seen are Studs Lonigan, Take A Hard Ride, Satan Bug, Malice, Angie, Raggedy Man, I.Q., The Others and I'm sure there are a few more.

I can't think of anything else right now, I'm sure there are some FSM titles I haven't seen but I make an effort to watch all the films at least once.

I just have to bring up Aliens appearing in Die Hard.

That is something that continues to incredibly irritate me. It just doesn't work and completely takes me out of the film when it is suppose to be holding my full attention.

One of the worst cases of temp-tracking I can think of right now.

I actually saw Die Hard before I saw Aliens, or heard that cue alongside the score, and even then something was a miss.

^Take no notice, Transformers is really good fun as long leave your brain at the door.

Sit back and be entertained with harmless writing and good sfx, if you are capable of doing such a thing.
