Sandor 459
Found this on this forum:http://raven.theraider.net/showthread.php?t=13576Real, or complete fanmade description?? Sorry if this has already been confirmed or debunked. From imdb...the ark is mentioned!Raiders March (3:56)The album starts off with a large blast of brass, and things pick up for a second, and then percussion joins in as the cue grows, and soon we have moments where the full orchestra is battling it - in full Williams style - with the cellos. By the time we get to the Three-minute mark, the Adventure is in full effect, and then a large action theme is heard below rhythmically staccato strings. Soon a choir comes in and just when you think it might climax, it all drops away leaving us with the solo cello Playing a haunting version of the Crystal Theme. It all builds back up again one last time for the finale.Call of the Crystal (2:24)A gentle crescendo with strings, harp, and piano builds into solo flute and clarinet statements of the Crystal theme, followed by the first full performance of the Kingdom of The Crystal Skull theme in the woodwind, backed by the choir. The track then ends on a dark note. The Adventures of Mutt (2:50)A playful track, a rousing orchestra kicks in with some fast upbeat music. It progressively builds, and then suddenly drops away, leaving us with drums and a wailing electric guitar, adding a rather surprising contemporary element to it. Now the orchestra kicks back in, and the whole piece crescendos into a fun and exciting finishIrina's theme (2:31)A tense, regimented piece of music, low pulsing against a high string line moves into a rhythmic ostinato and dissonant woodwind flutters. Then the brass comes in softly as the strings build up to a flurry of movement. The Snake Pit (3:37)Deep low end drums pulse, and then low strings rumble and high string quietly appear, and then suddenly they hit loudly. Strings randomly create a frenetic dissonance as low choir appears. Strings builds upwards to a dramatic chord that falls off, leaving trailing brass behind. The Spell of the Skull (3:01)Starts off with the piano and some light percussion with brief hints at the Crystal theme in the piano. A flute comes in with the orchestra with more of this theme. While slower, this cue has a definite sense of motion with the light percussive orchestrations.A Whirl Through Academe (2:55)A tense, rivetting cue with the choir. Various woodwind solos build into a brief brass quartet statement of the Crystal theme, which is followed by a choir and horn partial statement of Indy's theme. The Journey to Akator (2:40)Almost wondrous in nature, with female choir and harps accompanied by the orchestra, this cue is the first time we get to hear the whole sweeping "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" theme in its entirety. Until this point, it's just been hinted at or excerpted. In its full glory at last, the theme is a welcome respite from the exhilarating action that has preceded it.Return (1:55)Beginning with string and woodwind statements of the Marion's theme, this is a Playful cue that continues with a drawn out piano version, then a clarinet. The second half of the cue is one of the more unique moments on the album with a bit of electronics and chimesThe Jungle Chase (4:34)Here we get the full orchestral treatment of the Heroic theme as it is bounced back and forth between the low brass and trumpets with the orchestra and full choir behind it. Then the snare drums kick in and the battle is on! The chorus is amazing here, as are the powerful brass and percussion performances. A bold brass motif that was heard in the first track returns here for the action sequence. The choral contribution is upped another notch toward the end with a moving hard percussion line behind it. The orchestra then races toward the end, which takes on a quiet, uneasy tone.0rellanas Cradle (2:25)Here we are dramatically introduced to the Heroic theme in the brass. A clarinet then begins what builds into the fullest statement of the Irina's theme on the album. The Crystal theme returns here and, backed by pulsing strings, builds into a full statement of the Heroic theme.Grave Robbers (3:39)A dark ominous cue with solo performances of the low strings, brass, and chorus. This is one of the longer cues, and a bit slow. It ends on a dissonant note.Hidden Treasure and the City of Gold (3:58)Layers of strings slowly build up, with minor pulsing, and then a flute enters, bringing with it dark chords on the woodwinds. It leaves you with a slightly unnerved feeling, and ends with low chords on the strings.Secret Doors and Scorpians (4:20)This tense cue starts with major/minor chords on strings, before building up in a dissonant chord before springing into motion. A driving cello ostinato keeps the energy high as strings hit chords to add to the tension. It then breaks through into a new level, with punctuated hits, and some furious string work before coming to an abrupt end.Oxleys Dilema (1:48)Tension starts off the track as a minor chord plays, and a low bass ostinato emerges, followed by lots of string chords, and swells. It continues in this vein for much of the track, providing a very warm, rich texture that appropriately matches the warmth and wood-heavy set that the scene takes place in - a major contrast to the content of the scene.Ants (5:22)A bit of the Irina's theme can be heard before the track builds up into an action heavy cue. The orchestra starts playing around, bouncing between swashbuckling motifs and the Indy theme. After a brief rest, we hear a taste of the Crystal theme on celesta, and then some more action, including a flash of the Ark Theme. . The track ends with another burst of sword fighting actionTemple Ruins and Secrets Revealed (8:36)The longest track on the album, we first hear an eerie statement of the Crystal theme on the electric violin backed by ethereal vocals. Tibetan vocals and percussion give the cue into a violent and grim undertone as Irina's theme and the Raiders theme are given their darkest treatments in the brass and bass strings. The sound of snipping scissors can be heard beneath some of the music at one point. The percussion picks up the tempo as the orchestra builds into a tense version of the Ark theme with a series of brass chords underlain by low strings. The cue closes with chimes and a children's choir backed before the percussion kicks in again with the orchestra and ends on a dark note in the low strings. The Departure (4:33)This lengthy score cue begins with soft orchestral swells building to an emotional string variation on the main Indy theme. A soft male choir joins in, and the music gets more dramatic and moving, building into string-heavy choir music. There is a brief crescendo, and then it cuts out. Now we hear some percussion, low brass, and the strings provide a driving ostinato. Overlapping brass melody lines build slowly and with the choir full and present, it's an emotionally moving climax. It calms down, and now we have a soft rendition of the main Crsytal theme.Finale (5:01)A flute brings back the Crsytal theme with a French horn on the countermelody; chimes and piano back further statements of the theme. An uplifting cue, score track reprises all three main themes with Indy's theme receiving only a shortened variation. The Heroic theme takes over as the primary thematic idea as the choir and full horn section comes in. A solo horn then segues into a moving piano cue with the Trumpet that reprises the tone set in "Raiders March" cue. The Heroic theme returns in the brass with racing strings underneath, then slows and quiets to a solo clarinet that ends the score on an unresolved note. Delorean90 32
I tried to read as little as possible, just in case, but I'd say the phrase "from IMDB" is pretty telling. On top of that, I can almost guarantee that the track "Raiders March" will be a new recording of some sort of concert arrangement, whether new or old, of purely the Raiders March. In that case it could possible be a suite incorporating other themes as well. But I doubt this IMDB-poster has really heard the soundtrack. King Mark 2,924
If it's real it means Williams re-worked the Raiders March. That would be great.
Sandor 459
Thanks for the info Merkel. Could you provide some examples to ease my mind on this matter? It definately sounds like a Soundtrack.net description all the way, but I couldn't find any direct evidence that this - besides the track titles/themes - is a copy and paste job.
