Richard Penna 2,083
Nope. My favoured composers change all the time and although that 'listening 10 times over at 3am' happens to me a lot, it's with all sorts of composers and types of scores.I consider a fanboy someone who either claims to, or actually doesn't find any faults at all with a composer or work, and believes them to be completely superior to anyone else in their field. I find irritants in all my favourite stuff, so I don't consider myself even close.I mean take LotR, which I am truly passionate about. About 90% of the music in the last score is pure scoregasm as far as I'm concerned. The other 10% maybe is a little duller - it's kind of hard to write a 4 hour score and for all of it to be flawless. I also appreciate that some people don't like it as much, and I can see why they might think that - I think that's the difference. If someone says 'well f**k you' any time you dared to point out a misplaced piano hit in their favourite score, you have yourself a fanboy. Quintus 5,391
I am absolutely NOT a fanboy, yuck.A VERY GOOD READ FOR ALL YOU FANBOYS OUT THERE. A simply brilliant editorial courtesy of CHUD.comTake a leaf out of that read and learn to behave yourself, the writer is soooooo right about YOU.You do not default to "I'm a fanboy and proud". No, you default to "I'm a spotty little twat who values only HIS own 'educated' views."

Quintus 5,391
Just read my link Joey boy. There's a massive difference between me (maybe you too) and the likes of KM and his cronies. *Think what you like about me, but that editorial tells a story which is refreshingly correct on every single level.TGE: Who's supposed to be staying away till Indy IV has been seen by him.*I assume he has them. JoeinAR 1,759
I will later but you gotta admit at the most basic level we're passionate fans about films/film music, tv, games, etc.
Quintus 5,391
Yes, there is zero dispute from me in that area. But that does not necessarily make me a fanboy. Not by a country mile.Just read my link. After Paedophiles, fanboys are the scurvy of the internet. Do NOT underestimate the clearly sensationalist nature of that comment. Quintus 5,391
Don't worry, the gulf between you and that level of scum is MASSIVE, HUGE and GIGANTIC.But that doesn't make your breed any less than second in the list.Sod it, I can't be bothered to wait for the response (as I admittedly have been), I'm doing a bunk till May 22 has come and gone.Cya! Luke Skywalker 1,284
To me a fanboy is someone who over does it. Has Star Wars bed sheets, curtains, towels etc etc. Someone who obsesses about things too much. There's nothing wrong with collecting things whether it be toys, action figures or film scores but there also is a fine line between having a section of a room decorated with toys as opposed to the whole house.Switching your name to Obi Wan Kenobi or naming a child after a celebrity are examples of fanboys. Hell I just come here to talk. I don't think just because you post here you should be labeled a fanboy. Then, i am not a fanboy!
Jacob 0
"If you know the lyrics to Lapki Nek, you might be a fanboy."That should read: "If you even know what the hell Lapti Nek is you are hopelessly pathetic."BTW it's Lapti, with a T. Some fanboy you are.

AI 0
I would say no. I think fanboy has a negative connotation. It suggests to me a stalkering or obsessive type of behaviour. There is plenty of that around, but it's usually about a sexually attractive, young celebrity, for who they are, more than what they do. The term fanboy doesnt really fit for John Williams. Josh500 1,602
I am a big fan, but not a fanboy. My whole life doesn't revolve around John Williams...
Pieter Boelen 633
I like film music a lot and I think John Williams is the best composer of film music there is. However, I also like a lot of other composers' work and can even rate some work of other composers above that of John Williams. Most notably Cutthroat Island. So fanboy or not? I honestly don't know. Depends on one's definition, I suppose.
