I seen him at 3 concerts in Boston, but althought he have conducted some classical pieces from composers such as Elgar and Tchaikovsky, I always wanted to know how he conduct "La Mer" or "The Rite of Spring "...

I wish he would conduct Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers, Beethoven's 5th symphony, and Mozart's 4oth symphony.

Actually Waltz of the Flowers exist in a PHILIPS recording with peter and the wolf

Really?! Didn't know that.

But I guess that album is very hard to come by these days...

I would love to hear the Maestro conducting Prokofiev's 5th symphony and some various symphonies from Shostakovich (namely his 5th,7th and 9th), for no other reason than I really like the sound JW gets from the Brass section in all his recordings.

Conversely, I would also be interested in hearing him some more expressive fare, such as pieces from Debussy - especially 'Prelude on the Afternoon of a Faun'.

Wow, I could make a pretty long list here. I would say Tchaikovsky's 4th, Enigma Variations by Elgar or Beethoven's 9nt. I'd love to see how he conducts the Last two minutes of Beethoven's 9th!

- The Planets

- Carmina Burana

done both

Only a tiny part of Carmina Burana. That bit didn't make me want to hear more though.

Can't really think of much. Williams seems to be best when he's conducting film music. I always wondered if Goldsmith might make a good Bruckner conductor though.

I'd be more interested to hear Williams' arrangements of some classical pieces

Beethoven's Symphony 6, any of Mozart's Piano Concerti, or perhaps his Requiem Mass in D minor. On that note, I wonder if Williams has ever performed a Mozart piano concerto... I'd love to hear that. Anyone know?

ASW - who saw Bramwell Tovey conduct the Vancouver Symphony in a performance of Beethoven's 6th a few weeks back, and enjoyed it immensely :)

Roar! by Michael Giacchino! ;)

Kidding.....

I would love to hear Williams conduct Prokofiev's 3rd Symphony although there are already a few excellent readings of that. Truth be told, I'm not sure the maestro's conducting chops can be compared to Von Karajan, Leonard Bernstein, Michael Tilson Thomas, or Valery Gergiev. Oh, Riccardo Mutti is pretty good too.

I think Williams would do a very nice job at Elgar's Enigma Variations though. Of course there's already Adrian Boult who is kinda the definitive English music conductor....

A lot of great choices, guys. I personally would like to see him conduct:

1812 Overture - Tchaikovsky;

Finlandia - Sibelius

Symphony No. 5 - Tchaikovsky

Sheherazade - Rimsky-Korsakov

Pines of Rome - Respighi

Roman Festivals - Respighi

Anything by Tchaikovsky

Any of the Strauss family Walzes,

any overtures by Von Suppe

My list can never be complete because I like a ton of classical music (really music from the "romantic" era and on; I don't like the "classical" era - Mozart, Handel, and the like) and since he's my second favorite conductor I'd like to see him conduct any of it.

Dvorak's Symphony No.9

Simpson's Symphony No.9

Schubert's Symphony No.9

Mahler's Symphony No.9

Shostakovich's Symphony No.9

Horner's Symphony No.9 "from The New World" :P

I'd actually love to hear Williams conduct Promenade Overture by John Corigliano, a piece Williams himself commissioned for his inaugural concert with the Boston Pops.

A great piece, and a piece I can imagine Williams must enjoy.
