Desplat13 1
Am I the only one here who compares the A New Hope (I call it that just for Joey and Mark and everyone else's sake) Tatooine fluff music with the Attack of the Clones love fluff music? Neither seem to move the the story forward musically (and I know I will get persecuted for saying that), and neither really offer too much fascinating compositional or orchestrational material. Neither do a great job of incorporating themes or developmental sections. I think they are about equal in terms of musical interest. All right, fire at will.Colin ThomsonIdiot!NeilWhy, thank you! You really are too kind. I certainly don't deserve that sort of generosity.Colin Thomson, who has seen all of the Star Wars movies

Popular Post Tallguy 3,384
Wowzers! I love watching these to really hear the somewhat isolated parts. There's things going on that I never heard before even after 45 years! Gee, if only you included sound effects and dialog like in the Live to Picture Concerts! (I'm KIDDING! Don't ever do that. And see if you can get the Concerts to STOP doing it.) When I was a little kid the two songs, er, tracks that we playing into the ground were this and Mouse Robot and Blasting Off. Mostly because those were the two scenes that played on TV so we really knew where the music went and also because we could act like Luke and Han and run around the house shouting "Chewie get us out of here!" and "Here me baby? Hold together!" Oh, and of course "NOOOO!" Over the years I sometimes forget what a powerhouse track that is. I tend to compare it with The Asteroid Field, but really TAF doesn't quite equal it. I mean, Ben's theme, Leia's theme, the Rebel fanfare, more Ben, the little chime-y part when they're getting to the guns and then KAZOW! The whole TIE attack! It's almost all of Star Wars (except, funny enough, the Star Wars theme) all in under four minutes! Whew! And with the possible exception of the Sail Barge Attack Williams has never been able to really successfully use it again except as a needle drop. Not the Rebel fanfare. He uses that like gangbusters. And it's one of the best themes! Marc, BrotherSound and Holko

Jay 37,346
Anyone else think Princess Leia's theme has never sounded better than it does in that cue? Marc
Tallguy 3,384
Just now, Jay said: Anyone else think Princess Leia's theme has never sounded better than it does in that cue? It's certainly up there. Do we count the escape pod launch as Leia's theme? If so that's the winner. I'm also a huge fan of Carrie Poppins in The Last Jedi. Tallguy 3,384
Wow. That seems rather punishing. Great job @Marc. The concert arrangement of TAF just doesn't do it justice.
