indy4 152
The saddest part is that there were nine bids.
Koray Savas 2,095
I've seen dumber listings. I can't believe I bid up to $100 once on a boot of The Sugarland Express. I knew it was a boot, but it was one of those "official" bootlegs. I was outbid, and the winner dropped out so the seller asked if I still wanted it and I said no.I also bid like $240 on a sealed copy of FSM's The Poseidon Adventure & The Paper Chase. Thank goodness I was outbid, I don't know what I was thinking. Even better, a very good man sent me his extra copy of it for free. I'll never forget it. Ollie 859
There's no such thing as an official bootleg. Although the public domain rights are different in Europe and other countries compared to the US.This eBayer sell legit stuff but also does bootlegs. The winner would probably kick him/herself if they went to Varese or Colleseum (or any other online retailer) and saw POTA available.Unless they are rich and $77.00 is like a penny to them. Trent B 317
Ooohhh....maybe I should bring this to LeHa's attention over at FSM..... I dare ya. BTW is the Varese release of Planet Of The Apes actually complete or what? I went over there and looked but only saw the single disc set.
Ollie 859
Yes it's complete as far as I know. I don't know what could encompass 2 CD's unless he took all of the Apes film scores and put them on the disc.
Trent B 317
I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.
Koray Savas 2,095
There's no such thing as an official bootleg.Yes there is. It looks and sounds just like an official release, but it isn't. Just like Drax said, it's pressed and has artwork and everything. One of my favorite sellers on eBay sells them. I got Thelma & Louise/Invincible, The Last Days/Younger & Younger, and Follow Your Dreams Vol. 2 from him. All by Hans Zimmer, the label says First Born Records, created after HZ's first score First Born. Everything is legitimate, but it isn't. Understand? There are plenty of these around. I know there is one of SpaceCamp/Yes, Giorgio and Born On The Fourth Of July. Also there is a 2CD score of The Towering Inferno with extra suites from other Williams' scores. All of these are official bootlegs. I've always wanted those JW ones mentioned above, but they go for around $40 a pop. I also haven't seen BOTFOJ or The Towering Inferno around anymore, maybe they aren't made anymore. SpaceCamp can be found and is like $36. I might buy it eventually. Better than paying $300 for the Japanese LTD to 1000 copies release.

Koray Savas 2,095
Why do I sense you might end up bankrupt one day? Unless your dad is Donald Trump.... Believe me, I'm not that stupid anymore. This was more than a year ago. The most I've ever paid for a CD was $36 for Dracula.Isn't that what you'd call a 'nicely done' bootleg?Nope. Nicely done would be something home made that looks passable. These are the same quality as you would buy in a store. I like the term official bootleg, I'm gonna stick with it. Trent B 317
Bootlegs are illegal here in the U.S. As stated earlier in some countries they're legal and are factory pressed and sold off as "legitimate" which in my opinion is still wrong. I would never buy a bootleg as I have stated.
Koray Savas 2,095
Yet you would trade for one? I don't see the difference. Either way you are obtaining it.
Vaderbait1 1
Yet you would trade for one? I don't see the difference. Either way you are obtaining it.Yeah, but in the one way it's more directly profiting the person. This is why I never had a problem with downloading music. No one is profiting from me downloading music to CDs I may never have bought anyways. Buying a bootleg is bad in my book, but downloading or obtaining one (especially one that has never been released) isn't illegal in my book.Of course, I doubt the FBI would care very much about what's legal in my book. indy4 152
I agree with Koray. Buying something is just trading it for a certain amount of money. Trading for bootlegs is just as bad as buying them.

I'm not going to judge, because I do the same thing.I don't see a problem with downloading OOP or unreleased music though, the composer wouldn't make money even if I bought it. Jacob 0
I'm not a saint or anything, but it might be helpful to keep in mind that unreleased or out-of-print does not equal out of copyright.
Trent B 317
Trading is completely different. I'm not giving anyone any money for it and as stated earlier no one is profiting from it. I too have no problems with downloading complete scores that won't get a legit release. However for those that do actually get a legit release for through someone like Intrada, Varese or FSM and if it's one I want I will buy it. If it's one I do not want I won't even bother with it. For even out of print scores if it's one I want I will hunt it down until I have it.

No, it's just as bad as buying. The person you trade with is profiting by getting one of your CDs from your collection.

If you've been paying attention I was talking about the complete bootleg scores that will most likely never see the light of day. Not OST's or scores that have been given a legit release.
