I know some people don't like Indiana Jones 4, some do (like me), but let's forget about all the negativitey and just take a while to remember the greatest scenes.

Obviously, major spoilers in this thread, so if you wandered in here on accident without seeing the film, GET OUT!

My favorite is the ants scene. Classic Spielberg there, with the guy being carried off by the ants into that giant hole. *shudders* Brilliant!

The jungle chase was thrilling and exciting, to say the very least. I loved it.

The humor was everywhere, and I loved all of that.

And I loved Blanchett's death, with here eyes catching on fire, that was classic Indy.

Also the whole scene at the end with Indy's hat blowing in, and Mutt about to put it on, only to be grabbed by Indy at the last second. Loved it!!

Ooh...my absolute favorite parts (because in actuality I liked most of it in some capacity or the other) included these:

The malt shop scene/motorcycle chase: Great introduction to Mutt's character (in addition to the train station), and a terrific segueway into the chase, which was terrific. I love the bit where Indy goes through the car and climbs back onto the bike, and the direction and cinematography were pretty well done here--the shot which was in (I believe) the second trailer of them going through that corridor with the bushes almost looked like it could've been in Last Crusade.

The scenes in Indy's house had nice atmosphere to it.

The flight to Peru, the talk in the streets, and the whole Orellana's Cradle sequence. The latter particularly was superb. Nice humor ("It was just a thing" is one bit that I really appreciated and hasn't gotten much love--and of course the "Come on, genius" bit.), classic ancient ruins stuff, and I absolutely lovely cinematography. I just love the shots of Indy and Mutt's partially illuminated faces.

The tent scene was nicely done--great shot of Indy through the veil.

Marion's reintroduction got a hearty applause in the theater, so that kind of amped up that moment, and the following scene with the revelation of Mutt's parentage was well-done.

Though I'm iffy on the Mutt swinging bit, the jungle chase was very nicely done, and even has some pretty cool shots. There were definitely quite a few "Oh, snap!" moments, such as Spalko hanging off the craft and shooting at Marion.

Indy4, I agree with you on that shudder. For the lack of traditional gore, the ant attack ended up being fairly disturbing.

The opening of the alien chamber was very nicely done, with the score perfectly lifting it, and the whole climax was quite well done, although I would've preferred a puppet/suit alien instead of CG.

The finale was good, I thought, and I loved the hat bit. I suspect this was their way of saying, "No, it's not going to be the Mutt Jones series. This is Indy, baby." The last shot was neat, too, with Mutt combing his hair under the credits. It's just got that kind of old-school feel that you don't really see anymore. I can't think of any recent films that begin the credits with footage under them in that way (blooper reels don't count).

Those are just some highlights off the top of my head, but again, as I go through my mind, there's a lot to like.

Just read on Wiki that SS and GL were going to keep Marion's role in the film totally secret until its premiere. I think that that would have been awesome!

Indeed! Perhaps a message to Lucas from Spielberg that Indy 5 won't happen. :)

I also loved the first appearance of Mutt through the fog. I was not expecting that to happen, but when it did, Shia almost seemed iconic.

The best moment of the film was the shot in which we (for no good reason) see the Ark of the Covenant. God, I love Raiders. I'd take a needless fanboy reference like the Ark over Skull's actual plot any time.

Anything with that scene-stealing Cate Blanchett of course (loved her hairdo!), and the tension was so high during that

atomic bomb build up

, that was probably my favourite part of the movie.

I thought the beginning was quite good and I was genuinely charmed with the ending.

Perhaps the funniest part was that Wilhelm scream. Damn, what was that? :P

I'll also add JW's first entrance, after the

Russians shoot the American soldiers

. It's not included on the album, according to John Takis, but when I first heard it, I was like "Yes!"

I'll also add that the entire film had great cinematography.

There was also one of those SW explosion sounds at the beginning when the Russians shoot the access port at the entrance to the warehouse.

And the classic vase breaking noise towards the end when they are leaving the chamber

The whole opening sequence, I loved it all, pure Indy. The fight with Boris in the warehouse was great, the rocket sled sequence too.

I loved the bit where a dazed Indy quickly scrambles away from the rocket sled and quietly watches, lying in the rough. That reminded of Raiders. Williams' music was particularly good throughout all that stuff.

Also, did anyone else notice the huge wide shot of Indy stood high up the rocky valley, peering down upon the fake 50s' town below? A superb shot, Indy looks great in it. A surreal moment.

So many of them.

My top 5 so far:

-

betrayal of Mac and escape from the warehouse

- Indy's and Mutt's escape from

KGB agents

- grave robbers (especially the eerie begining with

the masked Indians

- fighting Irina during jungle chase

- Ants!

Well probably many of you don't agree with mee but I absolutely LOVED the departure scene, well starting with the skeletons humming and smoke coming from the eyes. The whole part where all 13 became 1 and turned into a real life alien was awesome. I'm a sucker for aliens though

In all honesty there was one scene I did like and my son also nudged me and said that's cool.

Indy watching the mushroom cloud.

It was the slogan for Dwight "Ike" Eisenhower's presidental campaigns.

Ah OK. I even recognize the dubbing sentence.

Its was somehting like 'long live eissenhower' or 'vote eissenhower' i cant remember.

I actually loved the tent scene with Indy looking into the eyes of the skull. I loved anything that was blatantly like a 50's B movie. Irina's speech about mind control. Great underapreciated stuff you don't get to see anymore, and definitely the work of 2 geeks Spielbrg and Lucas.

Whose the geek, the geek, or the one who follows him?

And how could I forget one of the greatest scenes--Indy's entrance.

Love it when Indy's in a truck headed straight for that truck with Mac, and Mac keeps saying "You don't know him like I do! You don't know him like I do!"

There were so many great moments in this, mostly involving the dialogue and banter. I can't even remember them all. Sure, some scenes (mostly in the beginning) were a bit awkward, but once the movie got going, it was pure Indy, aliens or not.

And something else struck me. For all the "non-Indy" scenes that people complain about, there was not a single scene that I cringed at. And that's saying something. Being over the top is not cringe-worthy, and I wish they had cut back and showed some restraint, mostly around the waterfall scene, but it wasn't nearly cringeworthy.

My favorite points off the top of my head: Marion telling Indy the truth about Mutt while sinking in quick-sand and Indy's turnaround on the education issue.

The Graveyard scene.

The entire Jungle Chase/Ants/Cliff sequence (with the exception of the genitals scene and the third waterfall drop).

THe Motorcycle chase.

Really, looking back on it, there was just so much good, classic stuff in this. I think as time passes people will accept this as they did ToD.

!!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!

Some of my favorites: but really there are too many!

* Indy saying to Marion, "Why the hell didn't you let him finish school?" when he learns that Mutt's his son

* Indy and Mutt looking at each other on the motorcyle, like Indy and his dad in TLC . . . NICE!!!!

* Indy explaining to Mutt quick sand, and the whole snake scene; say "Rope!" HAHAHA

* waterfall sequence . . . that was so ridiculous, I just had to laugh; but pure Indy moment!!!

* Indy going into the car through one side and getting out the other during the chase scene HAHAH

* Indy and Mutt crashing into the library

* the whole Jungle sequence (and the Mutt swinging on vines probably wasn't as bad as it seemed on first viewing!)

* Every scene with Irina Spalko!

* Opening warehouse scene; A NICE OPENING!!!!

* Yes, I even like the ending. The wedding is nice because you don't want Indy to be all alone and a bachelor in his sixties!!!

* The ant scene was truly disturbing, but a PURE Indy moment for sure!

* the fight scene; reminded me of the fight scenes in all 3 previous movies

* Papa Jones's photo and the Holy Grail theme playing underneath

* the graveyard scene . . . whoa, that was creepy!

* the scorpion scene . . . Indy saying, "The bigger ones don't bite!" (or something to that effect)

* Indy and the Russian soldier on the rocket (?) and at the end Indy keeling backward (that got a big laugh in the theater)

* Indy and Marion seeing each other for the first time, and Indy grinning, like "What the hell is happening now?" (that also got a big laugh)

* the map sequence; I love how the music builds and builds and the Raiders March comes crashing in!!! another pure Indy moment

* the scene in which Indy and Mutt are examining the prison walls; that reminded me of the library scene of TLC

* Irina's death

* oh yeah, of course the fight in the diner; HAHAHA, that kinda reminded me of Back to the Future (although there never was a fight scene in a diner in BttF I believe)

* Mutt's first appearance

Hmmmm, did I forget something???

Yeah!! ... You know Indiana Jones... always with the death defying situations. Maybe in Indiana Jones 5, Indy will go into space (without a helmet). And... he'll shoot lasers out of his eyes! And then he'll find the Ark of the Covenant, open it and confront God Himself. Except when he opens it, Indy will only see himself, because Indiana Jones is God!!

Surviving the waterfalls is much more probable than surviving the fall out of the plane in ToD.

Some people don't understand that part of the brilliance of The Indiana Jones Series is that it is at times unrealistic.

Well,at least in ToD you could theorize that the raft actually acted like a parachute.

When they fall in the metal boats over 200 feet down they should be dead,so it was implausible by any stretch of the imagination

And the third waterfall - the one at which they fell out of the boat - would have killed them, pure and simple.

Wishful thinking on my part at that point, actually.

I actually loved the UFO lifting off and leaving a nice waterfall. Contrary to what I was afraid of, this didn't feel very strange in an Indy movie.

Indy watching the mushroom cloud.

that was nice, after an unbelivable sequence, but mine is the chase through campus.
