My apologies if I've missed anything out, I'll make the edit if there's something I've forgotten to add.

I voted for option 1, but the Motorcycle Chase follows closely behind. Both scenes felt like pure Indy to me and I only wish the rest of the movie continued on that course.

As I said in another thread, the Jungle Chase is for me the weakest chase centrepiece of all the movies. The stupid sword fighting and Tarzan swinging antics ruined it and it made the mortal sin of not even having Indy at the forefront of the whole sequence. There were lengthy moments were I wasn't even sure where he was in the whole thing. Not good.

For me the very worst action sequence was the Quicksand scene. It was rubbish and again, as I said in another thread; I hated the stupid 'comedy' dialogue in the scene. The tit-for-tat here was badly judged and neither funny nor appropriate. Imagine Indy spoke to Willie as casually as that during the spike room trap in ToD. Both him and Short Round would've been impaled. The bit where Indy explains the constitution of what sort of sand pit they are stood in was possibly the worst thing about the whole scene, I cringed, again.

Note to mod: thanks for putting this thread in the correct forum. My bad.

I haven't voted yet--I'll probably end up saying the motorcycle chase, but we'll see.

As for the quicksand scene--he needed Marion to stay calm so as not to make her sink faster. Of course he's going to be less frantic about it--or try to be. The spike trap required immediate action, whereas in the quicksand situation, he just needed to keep her from freaking out until Mutt could get something to pull them out. Makes sense to me.

You have a point, but there was just a major lack of tension in the sequence. No matter how calm Indy was trying to be, there should still have been a tangible sense of panic, yet there strangely was none. It was a case of "Hey, we might die here, but anyway, how have you been?"

I liked them all, but I pick Ants.

My only problem with the Jungle Chase is that it seems that HF didn't really do much--that he was just along for the ride, like Sean Connery. It seemed like Shia was the one doing all the crazy stunts that Indy had done in Raiders. But still, it was great fun!

The motorcycle chase was the only respectable scene.

It looked like a genuine stunt scene. I really liked it.

It's a sorry state of affairs when we even have to say such things, about an Indy movie.

I'd agree with that, but the word "respect" doesn't come to my mind when I see the head of Marcus Brody fall off of the statue. Very questionable taste there.

I hate to say this, but we've just had a new Indiana Jones film without any good action sequences. How is that possible? They all seemed either too brief or too unfocused or a combination of those two elements.

Yeah that was a nice respectful scene to Denholm Elliot.

My favorite action scene was the opening credits with the military convoy driving because there was no dialogue and the scenery was real and for a moment it felt like an Indiana Jones film.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say with the sarcasm. Did you miss Brody's painting in the school? Did you miss the scene with Indy talking to Charlie about Marcus and Henry? If not, then what did you want, a big monologue about how he missed him so much?

I thought it was a very poignant reference to Denholm's bi-sexuality by having his head land into an other man's lap...

I genuinly thought that while watching the scene.

Why bi? Why not simply gay?
