I don't think I'll ever get tired of "The Raiders March"

What a knockout theme. I've listened to it probably over 200 times (what with all the different versions in end credits and concert versions), but it never fails to excite me. Not many themes have that sort of lasting ability on the emotions of one. One of the best parts of it, for me, is how JW builds up the excitement leading up to the iconic theme.

These are some of my favorite variations, all with brilliant "build ups":

- 1:18 - "Flight from Peru"*******my second favorite

- 1:52 - "The German Sub"

- 4:21 - "End Credits" (Raiders)

- 2:43 - "The Fast Streets of Shanghai" ********my absolute favorite

- 3:00 - "Bug Tunnel and the Death Trap"

- 2:35 - "End Credits" (Last Crusade)

- 0:22 - "Journey to Akator"

One of the few complaints I have of the score to KotCS is that JW didn't use this brilliant theme as much. It's still a brilliant score, but I would've appreciate a few more statements. And that's also one of the reasons I wish we had the complete Jungle Chase score, I know that the complete thing used it a few times.

Examples of Raiders March I love

German Sub -- no 1.

Fast Streets of Shangahi -- no. 2

Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra -- no. 3

Journey to Akator -- no.4

This way every movie is covered. :)

I've been working this theme out on the piano lately and have noticed new things about it. There's a lot going on.

Though I don't exactly know the musical lingo for it, I love the part near the end of the melody, where the chord goes from the tonic to a half step up. Such a neat and effective touch.
