Pieter Boelen 633
Every few days I will post a thread on a random score from my collection that we can discuss and rate. I made a playlist on my computer with one track of each score I've got, so by using the random play option, I'll be able to post a truly random score each time. Hopefully this will allow us to discuss some scores that would otherwise never be discussed. Also we can record the rating so that we can create a full list of the ratings given to scores by JWFan.com.Last score posted was a really well-known one. Now let's continue with a really obscure one. Today's score is Ducktales: The Movie by David Newman. Are you familiar with it? What do you like about it? What don't you like about it? How do do you think it works in the film? What are your favourite tracks? So far JWFan has rated:See Soundtrack Ratings by JWFan.com.This web page contains the ratings from all my previous polls as well as those of Blumenkohl's.Final ratings are converted to a 1-10 rating for both rating systems so that they can be compared. Mr. Breathmask 480
I'm not familiar with it, but I have fond memories of the movie (and that wonderful TV theme).I'm curious to see the outcome of this one.

Wojo 2,442
I remember Treasure of the Lost Lamp pretty well, but I don't remember the music. Not well enough to remember Christopher Lloyd as the villain...let's see, the last time I saw it, I didn't know who he was...The music to this didn't grow on me the way that the soundtrack to the TV show did. The DuckTales show music is what got me interested in soundtracks in the first place, long before I knew what Star Wars was or I had any CDs at all. That's not even counting the theme song, the DuckTales intro song is very good, but the music to the show is awesome. I would give just about anything to have a good amount of music from the DuckTales TV show. Beyond the sample flying theme I downloaded from Ron Jones' website. Pure nostalgia from my childhood.I wonder if there's any music to be gleaned from the TV show DVDs. There probably is, since so much music is recycled from episode to episode, one would simply have to take all possible performances of a cue, line them up in a mixing software, and mute out all the sound effects and dialogue to reveal the music. Assuming you get a 5.1 mix for a TV show, and not just 2.0 stereo. As if any of that's an easy task...I suppose you've got a bootleg for Treasure of the Lost Lamp? Wow. Koray Savas 2,095
Do you really need me to list out the guy's filmography? The only thing I've heard good about him is Galaxy Quest, and that score isn't very good.

He's a decent comedy composer and has done some excellent scores like The Phantom, Anastasia, 102 Dalmations and The Brave Little Toaster. Stop being a narrow killjoy. Docteur Qui 1,248
Anastasia is stunning.I also don't recall the score, but have very fond memories of the film Ducktales. I must look for it, it was a great movie. I remember being quite scared in parts, and riveted in others. Those were the glory days of Disney TV. Ducktails, Gummy Bears.... How I miss you. Pieter Boelen 633
I definitly did remember liking the score to DuckTales: The Movie quite a lot when I first saw the film when I was little. That was before I ever started listening to movie music. Not just the song, which is good, but the score itself as well. There's a really nice adventurous main theme and nice Egyptian music as well. It's not officially released, but there's a bootleg available that doesn't have amazing sound quality, but it's quite acceptable. I never did listen through the whole thing, but the main theme is really quite nice and there's some good stuff in there. Not a total loss by any means as far as I'm concerned. Marian Schedenig 5,520
I saw this at the theatre when it came out... but that was before I had any serious interest in movies, or noticed the existence of film music, so I don't remember anything. Primarily because of Jerry Bruckheimer. That doesn't change the fact David Newman is one too.
