Dean1700 4
Don S Davis, best known for his role as General Hammond in Stargate SG1 and Capt William ("Ahab") Scully, father of Dana Scully from the X-Files, died on 29 June after a heart attack.I was surprised by this because he died almost 2 weeks ago and I haven't seen anything here about it. I always liked him as an actor.

Bryant Burnette 451
Don S. Davis was at Dragon*Con a few years back, and I saw him speak at a big Stargate panel. He seemed to be a very cool guy -- he started talking about what the fans meant to him, and got visibly choked up while thanking people for the interest they took in his work. It was a very touching moment, and an obviously sincere one.I'll always think of the X-Files episode "Beyond the Sea" when I think of Davis. He plays Scully's father in that episode. I rewatched it just the other day, and was mildly surprised by how little screen time he has in the episode. It's literally just a minute or two. And yet, my mind always tricks me into thinking he's in it a lot more. I guess that says something good about the impact he had in the role. BLUMENKOHL 1,064
For a second I almost thought you meant Don Davis the Matrix composer. But still, sad indeed, he did great work on Twin Peaks. RIP.
