Pieter Boelen 633
Every few days I will post a thread on a random score from my collection that we can discuss and rate. I made a playlist on my computer with one track of each score I've got, so by using the random play option, I'll be able to post a truly random score each time. Hopefully this will allow us to discuss some scores that would otherwise never be discussed. Also we can record the rating so that we can create a full list of the ratings given to scores by JWFan.com.Today's score is Hidalgo by James Newton Howard. Are you familiar with it? What do you like about it? What don't you like about it? How do do you think it works in the film? What are your favourite tracks? So far JWFan has rated:See Soundtrack Ratings by JWFan.com.This web page contains the ratings from all my previous polls as well as those of Blumenkohl's.Final ratings are converted to a 1-10 rating for both rating systems so that they can be compared. crumbs 11,754
Adventurous, but for my taste, I'd have loved it to be more Mummy-esque with its boisterousness. Overall it's fairly generic, and nothing outstanding.
Richard Penna 2,082
The action sequences are somewhat generic for me and a lot of the other bits cliched, but the quieter sections have some good stuff. It's not among my favourite JNH scores, but then I think the film has a lot to do with that - what I've seen of it was a pile of tat.3.5 stars. Luke Skywalker 1,284
Well i liked the movie, and i have the score, 3.5 i suppose, because its entertaining but nothing great.
Charlie Brigden 5
It was good from what I remember from seeing the flick, which I liked a lot, mostly because there always seems to be magic when you get Viggo together with a horse.
BLUMENKOHL 1,064
4 Stars. With an 8 Star "Montage" track.
Pieter Boelen 633
I'll go ahead and give this one 4,5 stars. I really like this one and bought the CD after really liking the music in the movie. It's not brilliant, but certainly very good. I find the action music is very good, especially The Final Three, which really sells the final part of the race in the film. You already know who's going to win, so without the music it'd be a really dull ending. However, the music makes it really exciting even though you already know how it's going to end. Morlock 9
Extremely listenable soundtrack. Nobody does Goldsmithian action like JNH.
indy4 152
The movie was vastly underrated, IMO. It was a fantastic film.

Goldsmith-styled JNH is one of the things I like about Kong.
Mr. Breathmask 480
I had iTunes on shuffle today. For a moment, I thought I was listening to Goldsmith. Turned out it was The Fugitive.
