I disagree. ALIENS, WOLFEN, STAR TREK III. Sure, certain parts of them are interchangeable, but they're all pretty great. Hell, I even like COMMANDO and BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS. I'm not a fan of his later stuff though.

Oh, I disagree, too -- I was just being contrary for contrariness' sake. I love Krull and Apollo 13 and Braveheart and even Titanic, to name a few. But I do think he lost his touch at some point and hasn't gotten it back.

I also just don't like the way that guy says "Nay sayers."

When you listen to this score, and STTMP, I can't help but wonder the pressure Michael Giacchino is feeling, they were Star Trek re-invented #1 and #2. Now Giacchino has the task of Star Trek re-invented #3.

Yeah, he's under the gun, no doubt about it. Nowhere near as much as J.J. Abrams, though; he's got the whole franchise to account for. And if this movie is a failure, it'll probably be the last Star Trek we see.

I don't think that's going to happen, though.

Actually if this film is a hit, Trek will continue as a movie franchise, with actors that are not Shatner, Nimoy, Kelley, Doohan, Takie etc...etc... playing these characters.

I'm still not convinced that this is the right way to go.

Perhaps Trek 11 should fail.

Just to piss Shatner off, Leonard Nimoy will get a Best Supporting Actor nomination in January 2010 and the fascinating thing about it is that he could win....if he were human.

"Wrath of Khan" is easily my favorite Horner score, which is funny considering it is his first.

It sounds almost Williams-ish at points. Maybe it's so good because he had such good competition during that time period, that raised the bar for him....

Yeah, its not his first score. It's his first score for a major motion picture, though and the score that really made his career take off (no pun intended). Horner was writing for student films and Roger Corman films before he did TWOK.
