After dinner tonight, in about five hours, I will sit down on my couch and watch a movie. However, I have yet to make up my mind on which one I will watch.

So far, I have narrowed it down to four.

The nominees are, in alphabetical order:

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Andrew Dominik, 160 minutes

Catch Me If You Can

Steven Spielberg, 135 minutes

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

Wes Anderson, 114 minutes

The Untouchables

Brian De Palma, 115 minutes

I trust you, oh wise and knowledgeable members of JWFan.net, to instruct me and tell me which film I should watch tonight. My enjoyment lies in your hands! Do not disappoint me!

I just want to say, good luck, I'm counting on you all.

New options for tonight!

Polling will be open until 21:00 CET.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

I actually own this on DVD. I found it interesting and quite funny, even if the laughs aren't the "laugh out loud" kind.

I think my daughter and I are the only ones who like this film. I think people are expecting a different film that what the get when viewing this one.

I'm with Alex on this one. The Spielberg and DePalma are good, meaty entertainment...but Dominick's movie is a whole other thing. It's an immersive filmic experience. I never found The Life Equatic's wave-length.

I have only seen Untouchables and Catch Me if You Can, but you can't go wrong with any of them all.

A pity you didn't put Police Academy 18 in it though.

Indeed. And I think Marc will like it very much for the reasons you described.

I picked The Assassination of Jesse James. I've seen The Untouchables and Catch Me If You Can, and while both are very good, it's always a treat to watch something new for the very first time. I don't know what you've seen and haven't before, but out of the two I haven't seen, this is the one I'd watch first.

The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford.

This movie is an experience, much to the likes of No Country For Old Men. It's pretty much perfection, and the score is easily one of the best in a long time.

All of the movies you listed are great though, Marc. I guess it just all depends what kind of movie you want to watch.

Can't you pick a stupid movie yourself, Marc? We can't choose for you, it totally dependent on your state of mind, your taste, the amount of time you have, the people you are with (girls??) etc. ;)

Catch Me If You Can is the last movie I would watch on that list, just because it's Spielberg and Williams doesn't make it a requirement. It's a decent flick, fun to watch, it's a little long for what it is though.

Untouchables or Catch Me,

didn't care for Life and Jesse James, but both movies are different.

Marc is a man of his word but he will eventually watch The Assassination Of Jesse James and he will love it. Why? Because Marc has class. He's not afraid to grow. I've seen that in him. It's the most important quality when it comes to intelligence.

I had it set to lock automatically at 21:00 last night, just to lock the poll.

You can still vote but it will make no difference.

I may do this again and I'll just change the poll in this thread.

And yes, I will eventually watch The Assassination of Jesse James. I've been looking forward to it, but secretly hope to come across a theatrical showing before viewing it on DVD.

Now this is one I could ask myself... meaning I'd probably go with some gut-feeling 5th option. The only thing I can say, don't watch FOTR, you'd have to line that up with TTT and ROTK, something I'm planning for later this year.

Won't be as good as the screening I attended last month with Peter Weir in Beverly Hills.

Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it a great deal. Excellent film.

My parents' absence also meant my audio system got one of its better workouts in recent memory.

My pant legs were flapping at times during the screening. The movie has very good sound and works so well on the big screen. I tried watching it on DVD when I bought it and gave up. It just didn't feel right.
